Scott Stapp placed on psych hold after cops find him rambling on side of road
Scott Stapp of Creed recently posted a video online claiming he was holed up in a Holiday Inn, penniless, and being attacked by a former record label. He said the IRS had frozen his accounts and that the label had stolen money from him and withheld royalties. If it seemed like the outcry of a paranoid man, it turns out that might be because it was. Stapp’s wife of eight years, Jaclyn Stapp, recently filed for divorce, and the filing reveals that the singer could be in very bad shape.
According to the Miami Herald, the former Miss New York USA claims in the divorce papers that Stapp left their home in early October and hasn’t been telling her his location. What’s more, she says he’s been using amphetamines, crystal meth and steroids so frequently that it’s caused him to have a break with reality, threatening to kill himself or harm his wife and three children.
To support her assertions, she provided the following text messages she were sent by Stapp:
“Florida is not safe. Biological weapons on the way. U have to leave with kids and meet me in Atlanta.”
“I’m coming to get you Satan and children. No mercy. You know how this ends. God created you and now God is ending you.”
“God is also telling me something about Palm Springs and Nashville so there’s a connection somehow. He’s also telling me DEA for some reason.”
“Wells Fargo working out my account problems. I’m out of gas. Haven’t eaten all day. I’m asking if they can spot me $1,000 so I don’t fall over from malnutrition.”
“I wouldn’t doubt it if the CIA is behind Alcoholics Anonymous.”
Additionally, TMZ reports a November 13th incident in which Madison County Florida Sheriff’s Dept. deputies found Stapp on the side of a road, appearing “wasted, incoherent, and rambling that someone was trying to poison him.” Cops placed him on a 72-hour psych hold
In addition to filing for complete custody of their children, Jaclyn filed a separate Marchman Act petition on November 11th. The Marchman Act is a Florida law that gives the court the ability to perform “involuntary assessment, stabilization petitions, and involuntary treatment petitions for substance abuse impaired persons.” A hearing was held Wednesday, but on Friday, Jaclyn decided to drop the petition and instead hopes to help him personally.
In his video, Stapp claims to be completely sober, but these legal documents paint a different picture.

It's easy to poke fun for a laugh, but it sounds like he needs some serious help. Three kids? They shouldn't have to go through this, especially this time of year. Hopefully someone can find him and get him some treatment.

Anybody making fun of this is a piece of shit. The guy is in serious trouble, his family has had to endure this, and hopefully someone can get him help. It'll probably take a someone strong arming him to treatment. But whatever works.

I've been penniless. I lived in a hotel (and slept under my desk) for a year-or-so. Good times.
But I never had to drag kids through it. And I was never addicted to booze and drugs. That sucks.

Apparently he is bipolar and got treatment in a nightline interview. His wife did not give up on him.
