High Quality Replacement Jewel Cases?

I need to replace quite a few cases in my collection, but can't find any brands that aren't flimsy and cheap. I'd like to find the standard ones with the Philips CD logo embossed in the tray, like the record companies used to use. Those seemed to have been built to last.

Can anyone suggest any stores or e-tailers that sell them? I've been looking all over but can't find anything decent anywhere.

Good luck, the manufacturing quality on jewel cases has largely gone down the drain. Your best bet is to crawl Craigslist, so many people are always wanting to dump their older jewel cases for usually nothing or takeaway costs. I see very few retail stores anymore carrying replacement jewel cases except in tiny quantities.

It's been a couple of years but Discmakers had some good ones.

I found some a while back on Amazon (the all clear ones) that seem to be pretty decent quality. They seem to have strong hinges and stuff and don't easily fall open like a lot of the ones I buy now seem to. I'll look up the brand when I'm home later.

Thanks. I've tried every store brand under the sun but they're all crap.

I've been known to buy cheap handfuls of CDs or DVDs from thrift stores to get decent cases for my personal collection.

That's actually a pretty great idea. Is there any way to clean up the "fog" that older cases tend to have due to shelf wear? That's my only concern -- I don't want the case to look 20 years old even if it is.

Alan Smithee might have a few closets of old, sturdy CD cases.

I have not personally tried it, but maybe something as simple as Windex? Or even white vinegar diluted with water? Try it on something you don't mind ruining first.
