Re: Tommy Ramone is dead.

He lived the longest, yet 62 is still a relatively young age to die.
They lived till 49, 50, 55 and 62 years of age.

RIP Tommy Ramone

In honor of Tommy Ramone's passing, I just turned on Rock n' Roll High School on Epix HD on my Roku.

RIP. Got to see them live back in 1989 and still is one of the greatest concert experiences ever!

Re: Tommy Ramone is dead.

They did not seem that old or maybe they kept themselves out of the spotlight for a long time and I was always remember them with the leather jackets and moppy hair as the last defining images of the band.

Re: Tommy Ramone is dead.

Saw them in '87, '88 and '93 ('94?) with CJ. That 1987 is my favorite gig of all time. I did not sense at all that the band was on a downward spiral or that they hated each other. It was just a blast of perfection. It's still amazing to think how quickly the first three guys died one after the other. RIP Tommy. Oh, yeah, Tommy produced The Replacements 'Tim' album as well!

Yeah, Tommy always seemed to be more interested in producing than in playing. It's no surprise that when he returned to producing the Ramones (Too Tough to Die, '84), it was the only album that stands up to the classic first three records.

As for seeing them live, I never saw them with Tommy on drums. Even I'm not that old. I can't even count how many times I saw them though. I lived in Poughkeepsie NY, and they would play The Chance pretty much every couple of months. More or less depending on international touring. It was often a spur of the moment decision. We'd be hanging out at our local watering hole, trying to figure out what to do that night. "Wanna go see the Ramones?" We didn't even go every time, if money was tight!

Re: Tommy Ramone is dead.

Saw them October 1979 in Galesburg, IL at Knox College.
One of the best concerts I had seen/have ever seen. And there have been plenty.

Definitely. Too Tough is a killer recording.
