Got the two disc version of National Treasures. Read many awesome reviews before purchasing. It's rare that a "best of" set gets that many great reviews.

Whoo hoo!
They just added an LA show and an SF show - the LA show is at The Fonda, which is my favorite LA concert venue, AND it's on a Saturday night. I am so fucking there!

If any of you guys care, No Manifesto, the MSP documentary they filmed almost 10 years ago, is finally out.
Except for the fact that it stops right around 2006, when they last toured the US, it's pretty good, with a lot of participation from the band. Most of the footage was shot during the Send Away The Tigers sessions, so you kinda get a window into them making that album as well. Worth watching if you're a fan.

wow - just wow! I forgot having seen the Manics twice before that 'live' their intensity is bumped up considerably and with the fact that most of 'The Holy Bible' is balls to wall aggressive to begin with - they just stormed through their 95 minute set at the 9:30 Club tonight - bloody fantastic!

Only 95 minutes? I was hoping for a full 2 hours - 1 hour for Holy Bible and 1 hour of "best of".
What else did they play for their 2nd set?

here's the full setlist - I don't like spoiling what they played since part of going to a concert is not knowing what they are going play (outside the fact that this tour IS being touted as 'The Holy Bible' album tour).
literally the first half hour of 'The Holy Bible' was played at such force and speed - it was surprising at how many songs could be crammed in. James had such an energy that it left me dumbfounded. Nicky loved how the crowd really got into the sing-along of 'Motorcycle' - he had the biggest grin on his face. It's too bad that 'Let's Go to War' wasn't included in the set, since it would have sounded a lot like 'Holy Bible's songs.

Here's a sample of a brand new Manics song, well, a cover anyways; Stones' Start Me Up - I think it sounds great!

Show last night was incredible.
Same set last night, only after "Small Black Flowers", we also got an acoustic "Sullen Welsh Heart", but between the two acoustic numbers, he did a quick riff of "La Bamba", and then the crowd egged him on to do the song, to which he obliged, and the whole crowd started singing it. He commented how it was weird - he was getting ready to do this whole introspective song, and all people want to do is dance. Then after Welsh Heart, he did a quick snippet of "The Everlasting" on acoustic, really belting out the words. And he lead into "You Love Us" by playing his own sarcastic version of GnR's Paradise City.
