A song from the album: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/sRbnAxrS3EM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> April Fools joke or legit? Either way, I did the song. |
Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
Cool news! I like Jack and Blunderbuss was a good solo debut. Looking forward to seeing what he comes up with for this album and hopefully I'll be able to see him on tour.

Loved Blunderbuss - looking forward to this as well.

Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
I finally signed up for the Third Man Vault in order to get this on Vinyl.
|
Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
I need to sign (back) up to do the same.

Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
I may have to re-signup for the Vault too. I've sat out the last couple of packages (kind of regret not getting the last one featuring some of The White Stripes material) but this one is pretty worth it I think. Especially since I'll want the album anyways.

For this one, the LP is worth $30 max. So, it's another thirty for a 7" and a book I'll look at once. I guess it's all about the exclusiveness. |

How is it worth you, do you figure? I want to sign up for the vault but in browsing through the packages they've released there are few and far between that seem worth the sixty bucks.

Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
That's a pretty good point. Wait a year or two and sell the book and probably recoup a good portion of the fee.
Although likely it would just sit on my shelf knowing me. |
Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
For those that are unaware, he just announced a Summer Tour, and presale to Vault members tomorrow. Re-upped my Vault membership just in time - will be trying for Milwaukee and at least one night in Chicago!

Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
Made it in for both of what I tried for - got GA for Milwaukee, and first row center for Chicago! :D

Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
I would have liked to have seen Jack on tour but he's not getting anywhere too near me. Hopefully he announces a second leg of this tour at some point and gets somewhere not too far from where I'm at.

Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
Jack White Isn't Friends With Meg White "She's one of those people who won't high-five me when I get the touchdown." Jack White has at last spoken in detail on his current relationship with Meg White, which seems pretty much non-existent: "I don't think anyone talks to Meg. She's always been a hermit. When we lived in Detroit, I'd have to drive over to her house if I wanted to talk to her, so now it's almost never." That quote comes from the former White Stripes leader's new interview in Rolling Stone, as excerpted by Consequence of Sound. The same feature spawned White's Wednesday self-comparison to Larry David, but the revelations on Meg, his ex-wife, come from the full print version. The man born John Anthony Gillis shed a little light on their previous working relationship as well, explaining that her general temperament affected the band as well. "She's one of those people who won't high-five me when I get the touchdown," he said. "She viewed me that way of 'Oh, big deal, you did it, so what?' Almost every single moment of the White Stripes was like that. We'd be working in the studio and something amazing would happen: I'm like, 'Damn, we just broke into a new world right there!' And Meg's sitting in silence. I remember hearing Ringo Starr say, 'I always felt sorry for Elvis, because in the Beatles we had each other to talk about what it felt like. Elvis was by himself.' I was like, 'Shit, try being in a two-piece where the other person doesn't talk!'." As White prepares for the anticipated release of his Lazaretto album though, he does seem to maintain a certain degree of reverence for his old partner: "I would often look at her onstage and say, 'I can't believe she's up there.' I don't think she understood how important she was to the band, and to me and to music. She was the antithesis of a modern drummer. So childlike and incredible and inspiring. All the not-talking didn't matter, because onstage? Nothing I do will top that." Perhaps not, but this vinyl package is pretty insane. So I knew Meg had some issues but it sort of sucks that it sounds like her and Jack are barely even on speaking terms anymore. I guess we'll probably never see a reunion of The White Stripes. Too bad, but Jack has done pretty good if not better on his own. |

Yeah, I'll still get this LP but won't be able to plait properly due to having an automatic turntable. Good thing it comes with a digital version of the album.

Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
Sorry for this little rant but eve since hearing the line "como en madera y yeso" in the Lazaretto track - I didn't have enough time too look up what it meant until today and it was driving me a little nuts.
For anyone wanting to know what "como en madera y yeso" means: "I work hard Like in wood and plaster Like in wood and plaster" Per White, it's kind of bad Spanish as you wouldn't say the "Como" before the line - he also used the line in Spanish because he didn't want to say "I work hard" directly in English. Source (maybe someone can advise if this is bullshit or not): http://rock.rapgenius.com/Jack-white...s#note-3102705 |
Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
Like wood and plaster would be: Como madera y yeso.
So is he saying I work hard like wood and plaster? If so, como en madera y yeso is wrong. EDIT - just read the lyrics and it's totally wrong. Yo trabajo duro = I work hard Como en madera y yeso = like wood and plaster Como en madera y yeso = like wood and plaster There should be no "en." |
Re: Jack White "Lazeretto" - 6/10/14
Shit sorry, left off the "Yo trabajo duro"
