KXM - A SuperGroup That Doesn't Suck

Most supergroups are total bombs (Rockstar Supernova anyone?) , but I've been excited about this band ever since I heard about the project. KXM is a supergroup band with Doug Pinnick on vocals/bass, George Lynch on guitar, and Ray Luzier from Korn on drums.

I'm a huge King's X, and Doug is an incredible vocal talent. George is a guitar legend, and Ray can tear it up on drums. Album comes out next week. Day one purchase for me.

I'm very excited about this project. George Lynch is my favorite guitar player, but he's currently touring with the latest incarnation of Lynch Mob. I sincerely hope this thing actually gets off the ground and lasts for more than one album/cd (hell, i'd be satisfied for just a one off cd/tour, knowing Lynch's history of jumping around from project to project ). Pinnick is great and that track swings.

When all the band members are required to wear capes & tights.

Last year's "supergroup" debut from The Winery Dogs (Richie Kotzen, Billy Sheehan and Mike Portnoy) didn't suck, either. If this album is equally good, I'll be quite happy, and if you haven't checked that album out yet, you need to.

Yeah a great record...and that line-up can crush.

Kotzen is a monster guitarist/musician and has played with some of the best musicians on the planet...he also replaced the dreadful CC Deville in Poison. Talk about going from the outhouse to the penthouse. Thankfully RK didn't waste much time with that crap (although he did swipe a founding members girlfriend -wink-)... but at least he got paid.

The Winery Dogs and Black Country Communion were both good. Very good.

I've got this album on order, so hopefully it's good, too.

Finally got a chance to listen to the new album. Some of the best rock I've heard in years. It has almost been getting stellar reviews in the press and made it to #31 on billboard charts. KXM is already the biggest success that these guys have experienced since probably the 80s.

I've heard some recent interviews with Doug and George, and both of them say they have to be involved in multiple projects just to make a living.
