CD Protectors
Is there any place to buy those little clear plastic cd shaped "things" that come in the big blank cd spindles ?

Re: CD Protectors
What the... what? A picture might help. Without knowing what "cd shaped things" actually look like or more specifically, what you are referring to, I have know idea. I have a lot of vendors I purchase media related bags, boxes, and misc supplies from.

Re: CD Protectors
I think he's referring to the plastic "cake" holders of blank media on big spindles. No, I'm pretty sure they aren't available through normal retail outlets unless you want to buy the blank media with it.

Re: CD Protectors
I'm going to guess he was referring to D-Skin disc protectors. They work reasonably well.

Re: CD Protectors
wow - could someone please post a picture of what you all are talking about??

Re: CD Protectors
This is what I think he's talking about: At the very bottom of a stack of CDs in a spindle is a clear plastic disc which protects the very bottom disc from getting scratched on the spindle itself.

Re: CD Protectors
^Ah yes, makes sense. But I don't think one can actually purchase them.rotfl (Sorry, but the request is hilarious)

Maybe I was doing it for the OP...... |
Re: CD Protectors
Figures it would be some OCD type of thing. Sheesh. Take a ritalin or something.

Re: CD Protectors
Might as well close the thread. He won't be posting any pics.

Re: CD Protectors
I quit using those things because it made more sense to just burn a copy onto a CD-R and just let that get trashed.
With an MP3 player, I don't even have to worry about trashing a CD-R. |

That has to be the stupidest invention ever. I had no idea those even existed. If you don't want your cds to get scratched, just fucking take care of them. Not really that hard.

Re: CD Protectors
Oddly enough, I need about 50 of these "clear plastic cd shaped things" for a DIY project. You can actually find many places online where you can buy empty disc spindles by the case load - but, to my surprise, no place sells just those clear protective discs. Last night I'm going through empty spindles I saved, gathering what few I have up while thinking to myself "Wasn't there a discussion about this once on dvdtalk?"
So after digging this thread back up, I now realize this topic didn't go well 5 years ago. And I may be setting myself up for the same level of abuse. But then I thought, what have I got to lose? (Only respect it seems.) This link is the best I could find, but they're not exactly CD/DVD shaped so they won't work. I don't really need a hole in the center, but over $1.50 each with shipping? Sheesh. https://smile.amazon.com/Acrylic-Cir...edirect=1&th=1 And no, I won't buy those ridiculous D-skin protectors. |
