Kraftwerk at the LA Phil, March 18-21, 2014
Kraftwerk is going to perform eight albums from their catalogue over four nights in LA. The performances are going to incorporate 3-D visuals in the staging. Because the demand for these shows is expected to be high, the LA Phil has put together a two part process for tickets.
First, go here: http://kraftwerk.laphil.com Register your name, email, and show preferences (they're doing one album per show, two shows per night). You can choose the four shows you most want to see. This puts you in a lottery, and people will get invitations to buy tickets. I just registered, and hope to be able to go. I saw them from a distance at Coachella years ago and it really made me want to see a full show. |
Re: Kraftwerk at the LA Phil, March 18-21, 2014
Good music, dull show. They take the "robot" aspect to a more extreme level than I can appreciate. The 3d aspect would make seeing them live more enjoyable.

you were there? I would have like to have least said hi or something - were you at the first show or the second? the crowd reaction to the flying saucer bit was awesome - the effect of it looking like was going to come out of the screen and land in the middle of the club was cool as shit. I was standing somewhat in the middle nearer to the back and the stereo effects of the music notably during 'Trans Europe Express' created this amazing pseudo surround sound effect - |
Re: Kraftwerk at the LA Phil, March 18-21, 2014
I was at the first show, went with my Dad. Computer World was the first CD he bought. Took them a while to get started, almost an hour after the scheduled showtime. What about you, were you the early or late one?

Re: Kraftwerk at the LA Phil, March 18-21, 2014
It's amazing. My wife has never even heard of Kraftwerk. If I had come home with $200 in Kraftwerk records I would have had my ass kicked.
I told my wife I got us tickets to Kraftwerk's 3D show in September and she looked it up on YouTube. She said "oh cool that looks really neat. How much?" I told her it was $200. "That seems like a good deal!" |
Re: Kraftwerk at the LA Phil, March 18-21, 2014
from Factmag.com
"Kraftwerk are to translate their visual shows into a “3D album”, set to be released in late autumn on Blu-ray. Speaking to Rolling Stone, sole original member Ralf Hütter said: “We translated our performances to 3D, and in surround sound, kind of like 3D sound. “We’ve put a lot of work into all the images, transforming from our Kling Klang archives into 3D format and arranging it synchronized with the music, so it’s quite a lot of production.” The performances come from the group’s recent 3D tour, which travelled to venues including London’s Tate Modern, the Sydney Opera House and Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Kraftwerk recently announced a string of European dates for their 3D tour, visiting smaller cities in Germany, France and beyond. [via Mixmag]" |
