I'm not putting down Tull, as I love them, but let's not get carried away here.
OK, I'm getting a little carried away, but not a whole lot. Tull were among the very best.

They belong in the HOF without question.

If I gave a crap about the HoF, I would definitely agree.

Pete Rose is more rock 'n roll than most of the artists that are in it now.

Don't you hate when your buddy starts raving about this "smokin hot lesbian" he works with, and when you finally meet her she looks like Pete Rose?

Say what you want about Debbie Harry, but nothing is more rock and roll than going up on stage in nothing but a T-shirt. I'd like to see Gene Simmons do that.

And just to be clear, when I say "I'd like to see Gene Simmons do that," I don't mean "see" literally.

"Benefit" is one of the best-recorded albums ever. Fantastic stuff.

And I've always thought that "Stormwatch" is vastly underrated.

Re: 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees announced

It sucks that the orignal lineup won't perform that night but I understand both sides. Paul and Gene probably feel slighted by Ace and Peter for the many botched attempts at keeping the original band together. And Ace and Peter feel betrayed because of the "make up" issue with the current lineup. This sounds like the Van Halen debacle at the hall of fame all over again.

So are all the people who were clamoring for Kiss to be inducted going to protest now that Ace and Peter won't be there?

Eh, I'd be more shocked if they were.

Really too bad they couldn't work their animosity out and play two or three songs together.

There will be more members of Nirvana (3) there from their heyday than there will be members of Kiss from theirs (2)

It's not that Ace & Peter won't be there (yet) to accept the nomination and say a few words... right now the situation is that they won't perform.

Now, given they won't perform, they may protest and just not show up at all, but I don't believe that's yet the case.

I meant perform and could have worded it better.. but I do think Kiss is a little different in that the two new guys are dressed up as Ace/Peter versus other bands where new members are just new members. I hope they do attend, since there are only the 4 of them being inducted

Yeah, I was really looking forward to their performance 'til I heard Cobain wouldn't make it.

Celebrity sure goes to some people's heads.

Re: 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees announced

It's funny that Simmons is missing a real PR coup here. They could have all four original members play together for the first and only time without makeup. It's not going to diminish the legitimacy of the current version of Kiss with Eric Two and old Whats-his-face.

Kiss fans know the score (in more ways than one). They may make some noise about it, but they won't realistically expect another reunion album or tour.

Re: 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees announced

As The Cow mentioned....posted on Facebook...

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME STATEMENT
FROM KISS

To All Our Fans In Regards To The Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame:

Out of respect, Ace and Peter's recent
statements demand a quick response to you,
our fans.

Our intention was to celebrate the entire
history of KISS and give credit to all members
including present long time present members
Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, and additionally
Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr all who have made
this band what it is, regardless of the Rock And
Roll Hall Of Fame's point of view.

Although KISS has moved forward far longer
without them, Ace and Peter are at the very
foundation of what we have built and this
would all be impossible had they not been a
part of it in the beginning.

It is over 13 years since the original lineup has
played together in make-up and we believe the
memory of those times would not be enhanced.
Contrary to claims made through the media we
have never refused to play with Ace and Peter.
We have spent 40 years dedicated to building
KISS without quitting or wavering as the band
has moved forward with huge tours and
platinum albums through different important
lineups for forty years, to this day.

KISS has always been a band unlike any other.
That is why we started KISS. That is why we
continue KISS. Being unlike other bands also
means making choices and decisions unlike
other bands.

This is understandably an emotional situation
where there is no way to please everyone.
To bring this to a quick end, we have decided
not to play in any line-up and we will focus our
attention on celebrating our induction into the
Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

We are excited and are looking forward to
seeing you all on the KISS 40th Anniversary
worldwide tour.
