Also looks like she aged twenty years...

She looks like she could be Paul Stanley's daughter.

Pretty good new song with possibly NSFW video.

^ And look, they age-restricted that video now.

My daughter met her at a record store signing today. She was so excited and said Lorde was super nice and took her time with everyone there. Posting her picture, with some added privacy for her.

The Deckette has ink!

And Lorde looks like my old college weed guy. rotfl

Indeed she does. Not crazy about it either.

Apparently the CD isn't 100% compatible with all CD players. It's transparent which looks really cool but some players don't recognize it. Seems players with trays are better but everything is a roll of the dice.

Very cool looking though.

Hope You Weren’t Planning to Listen to That—Lorde’s Transparent CD Won’t Play in Cars & Discmans

Wow.

They still make discmans? The top CD players are probably DVD players or maybe PlayStation/Xbox.

Sony rebranded them as Walkman when they stopped with the cassette players but yeah they still make then and they sell relatively well enough to keep going.

Apparently if you paint the top of this CD it will work. Problem is the potential of an unbalanced CD that can explode.

Wow, I didn't even know that transparent CDs were possible. I thought they needed a reflective layer for the laser, I guess not.

You would only need to reflective light that the player uses. It’s like glasses that let you see but reflect UV light. The CD player reads in infrared so it’s like those windows that reflect heat and are cool inside.

Lorde looks like the gender-fluid daughter of The Interrupter

That transparent CD looks awesome.

Wonder if they're rot-proof. I don't see how that thing could bronze...

Looks like one version of the album has a photograph of her mostly-exposed vulva.

I'm really starting to like her. The first couple of new songs I heard remind me of PJ Harvey -- who was also naked and plastic-wrapped on one of her albums, too. Wonder if she's modeling herself after her.

Not a direct link, as I don't know if that would be appreciated here. Just replace the [dot] with a period. (Pun not intended.)

I heard some Itunes samples of the new album and not really digging it.

Maybe two songs I will look for on Youtube but I am over her and all this stuff with her taking her clothes off and being sexual is that a last ditch attempt to stay popular?

Decker 07-03-25 12:39 PM

Re: Lorde -- Discussion Thread

Yeah, it's at 80 on Metacritic. It's a very well received album. And while album charting is different than it's been in the past, it's looking to be her first album to chart at #1.

Re: Lorde -- Discussion Thread

Her "last ditch attempt to stay popular" -rolleyes- has paid off. Her albums debuts debutson the sales chart. Her second #1 album in the US (and her first in the UK)
Lorde's 'Virgin' Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Album Sales Chart https://share.google/EiJ3s7KjN3LbA7Mbp

I've become obsessed with Shapeshifter. Not only do I think it's the best song on the album. It's on my short list for Song of the Year. No idea why they didn't make it a single.

Re: Lorde -- Discussion Thread

Lorde is now an independent artist for the first time. She signed with Universal at age 12 and has been with them from then until this year.
