oh and aside from a general release of the album - there is a 'deluxe edition' with another CD - comprised of demo's of all the songs.

I got the deluxe version that was signed by the band - it was only a couple dollars more than the same version on amazon.uk
I like the album, but, and though most Manic albums reveal themselves over time, this one seems a bit... thin. There's no guitar solos (JDB is one of my favorite guitar players, so that seems like a waste to me), way too many guest spots (I do not care for Richard Hawley's vocals), and there's even an instrumental (not a good one either). The lead single, "Show Me The Wonder" is fantastic though.

I love his guitar playing too. And yeah, there's hardly any electric guitar. It just seems so...different to me. And refreshing. It's kind of a haunting album.

why this DIDN'T get a Stateside release is just bewildering - it is truly a solid album and definite inclusion of one of my favourite albums of the year.

Though when I saw them on their tour for Journal for Plague Lovers, they said they'd come back to America for the next album, which would've been two albums ago.

If it got released here they may have to tour behind it and since they can only play smaller venues, it's just not worth their time since they wouldn't be making much money for the extra work.

the best show I saw of theirs was at V-Fest 2002 (Chelmsford England). On the NME stage they whipped the crowd up and it became a massive group sing along (for nearly the entire set) - I've never seen an entire field of people become 'that' animated, joyous and ecstatic

Here's a nice new interview with JDB, interspersed with some recent live songs (that sound freaking fantastic, especially JDB's guitar):

Quick! It's up for only another day or two.

As they promised, a more plugged-in album would come next, "Futurology" coming July 7th, 2014

I like the song, but don't really care for the big synthesizer sound in the chorus.
New album:
tracklisting:
- 'Futurology'
- 'Walk Me To The Bridge'
- 'Let's Go To War'
- 'The Next Jet To Leave Moscow'
- 'Europa Geht Durch Mich'
- 'Divine Youth'
- 'Sex, Power Love and Money'
- 'Dreaming A City (Hughesovka)'
- 'Black Square'
- 'Between The Clock And The Bed'
- 'Misguided Missile'
- 'The View From Stow Hill'
- 'Mayakovsky'

Loving that track and the synthesizer as well. Sounds like it could be off of "Everything Must Go".

outside of maybe the Pet Shop Boys - they are probably the most prolific bands on the planet in terms of continually releasing albums every two to three years.
the deluxe edition from the UK has a second disc of all the songs in demo form
plus:
- Blistered Mirrors
- Empty Motorcade
- The Last Time I Saw Paris

Re: Manic Street Preachers - "Rewind the Film"
I really, really want their O2 concert from a couple years ago, where they played 40 songs, in one complete CD set. They are way to good of a live band to not have a straight up live album, and this would be the perfect release for that. They've released a few tracks from those shows here and there through different means (iTunes, Spotify, amazon, facebook), so it's like a Pokemon "catch 'em all" sort of deal. But I have no patience for that and want them all in one nice set and am willing to pay for it, but alas...

I'd agree with that, though it'll age better than something like Gold Against The Soul (which has good songs, but cheesy '90s production), KYE, though it had some good songs, was way too all over the map, without a coherent theme/sound that all their other albums have.
