I am not too familiar with Backstreet Boys myself, but I agree with OP that they are still popular, especially with many of the dudes on my Grindr feed.

My favorite is easily "Upcoming 2013 Album". That one's got a lot good shit on it.

NSync haven't performed together in ten years or better; Backstreet's still going strong after 20.

That's because they were. Chris Kirkpatrick was a BSB reject who got the fraudster who started both of these groups, Lou Pearlman, to put N Sync together.

BSB is still together because none of them have anything better to do.

I loved when Ed the Sock used to make fun of them on the annual "Fromage" special on Much Music back in the day:

I've suspected that moviefan is a joker who somehow hacked an account created back in 2004, but this thread leaves no doubts. You had a good run man. Well done. But you went a little too over the top in this thread.

Justin's a selfish ass, more concerned with himself than the fans who originally gave him an audience.
Actually, they've all done separate projects. Kevin was on Broadway for a time, while AJ, Howie, and Nick released solo albums. Brian pursued a career in contemporary Christian music, and runs a heart-care charity organization with his wife Leighanne.

BSB's side projects don't generate nearly as much money as the group. If they did, they wouldn't still be in the group. BSB have an audience yes, but they're a nostalgia act. The fans that go see them are mainly comprised of women and gay men who were teenagers in the late 90's and early 2000's. And even most of them don't want to hear new music from them, they want to hear the hits. They're as culturally relavent as Eddie Money.

it's one thing to say it as an anonymous internet poster, but would you say it to a group of guy friends? I have my doubts

Nostalgia acts are bands that haven't released anything new in 20 years; BSB's still going strong on their anniversary of the same length.
I'm as straight as a real man can get, and I love BSB. There's probably five songs across 20 years I don't like.
