Going with poly-lined sleeves helps cut down on static as well.

I have been eye balling the deer skin mat lately - might go that route for a mat

There really isn't any difference in sound. Now picture discs, those absolutely do sound worse!

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Just got an email from Amazon and the Christine score that was due this Friday has been delayed a month - new release date is 10/27/17 -- maybe they want it released closer to Halloween and the new tour?

Oddly enough I just got an email from Amazon saying the Primus album that was due this Friday has been delayed until 10/13. Contacted my local record store though and they confirmed they will indeed have it this Friday, so maybe check yours if you have one nearby.

It's quite wacky with the Christine vinyl -- got an email saying that it would now be released next week 10/3/17. It still says that it will be released Friday 9/29 on Amazon. Also, for a minute, the price went down to $14.99 but it's now back to $19.99. Luckily Had the preorder guarantee and got that lowest price in.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Just ordered "The Passion", it's on backorder, but looks cool and for $11 for the 3Lp set, it was a no brainer for me.

I've really gotten into peter Gabriel since I resumed my Vinyl Obsession earlier this year, and have his first 5 albums on LP, just amazing stuff.

Yea, ALL my 10/29 releases were delayed. Primus, Christine, Jag Panzer, and Kadavar (which hasnt shipped but says I should get by 8pm )

On soundtracks, Waxwork Records did a live feed yesterday that was 90 minutes and awesome as hell. Really classy and there was only about 50 people on so they answered everything. Lots of Friedkin coming out and lots of dirt of how shit went with Netflix and Babadook - I recommend seeing it.

It pretty much solidified that I want to get all their releases

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I am receiving the new Bowie Set, Third Man Vault Icky Thump and Italians Do It Better Windswept today. Dangerous. Hoping they arrive before my wife gets home. And if she is home and they knock? Well I’ve used the “honey, I saw some Jehovah’s Witnesses in the neighborhood today. Don’t answer the door.” I’m not proud.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

My copy of the Akira symphonic suite should show up today. Or, I should say... copies. i got the email as soon as they went on sale and couldn't decide between the 180g black or 150g splatter. So I got both.

Luckily, I haven't had to lie to my wife about Jehovah's witnesses... she usually just sighs and asks what I ordered. Although, there have been times where I said "I ordered this before I said I'd be ordering less often" more than once.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Fuck... glad I'm not the only one getting shit

I usually involve my wife and include her on stuff that I know she will like or buy something along with something for her. Or I will race to get home before her, open my shit, put it away, and throw all evidence in the dumpster before she is home

Re: The VINYL Thread!

I'm finally alphabetizing my 700-800 LP collection, and entering everything into Discogs as I go. It kills the OCD side of me to just pick whatever release for my cheap titles, but it's just not worth anyone's time to specify between a $3.50 Willie Nelson record and a pressing that's worth $3.76.

I ended up ordering this man. Was jamming to it and said fuxk it lol. Was there a colored variant?

I don't think so. They're only pressing 300 copies in vinyl worldwide -- you do have the option of having it signed, though. Got a shipping notice this past Sunday, so should get it in a few days.

I went with the signed too! Mine hasn't shipped yet but I'm in no rush, I got all my orders in and have to hear:

Christine score
Primus
Day of the dead
Darkman
Kadavar
Nekromantix
Chopping Mall
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell (first pressing for $15)

And just ordered:
Logan - noir variant (limited to 150 and signed by composer)
Terrortron
Christine oldies soundtrack (got great deal for $10)
Nosferatu Soundtrack
MSG

And House 1&2 comes out Friday. Fuck

Nice! Did you get it from Amazon or Newbury? They had a real cool variant, but Amazon ended up dropping to $14 and that was a sweet price. I heard its a dirty vinyl and should be cleaned first but that it was remastered and sounds great! I cant wait to hear mine.

Album is excellent; I've been listening to it on Spotify. I'm hoping Mondo carries it so I can get it for a bit cheaper. Ordering direct seems... expensive. Sad I missed out on the colour version, though.

Re: The VINYL Thread!

Not really a vinyl post but since this is sort of the catch-all thread for two channel audio I figured I’d post it here.

I recently went with my wife to buy a punching bag set from a guy off Craigslist. While we were there he mentioned he was also selling a pair of tower speakers and he’d offload them for $40. I figured for that price I could take a chance on them being crap. Got them home and inspected them and discovered that they aren’t crap at all, they’re Infinity Crescendo CS 3009s from the mid-90s. The drivers are in good shape, just need some refoaming. I set them up in my living room and moved my two channel system in there. I pulled out my Onkyo HT receiver to drive them as it was the only thing powerful enough for them. They sound excellent, with high quality ribbon tweeters and two 10” bass drivers.

Now I just need to upgrade my turntable, DAC, and probably the amp and I’ll be set.
