White Denim and Low are also pretty awesome. I'd be really interested to hear the Ribot/Hidalgo collaboration. And I had no idea that Dream Syndicate was still around.

Not a bad lineup. Yo La Tengo are the best band on the list IMO.

People who are fans of Belle & Sebastian should check out the new Foxygen album.

Re: Solid Sound 2013

No Wilco fans here, huh? Oh well.

If anyone is going Friday night, there will be one heck of treat:

Wilco Performs All Fan-Request Set Friday 6/21

Wilco’s Friday night set at Solid Sound will be comprised exclusively of fan-requested songs, including covers. The band will take song submissions in advance and promises to learn 50 of those songs for the festival. Then, during the concert, approximately 20 songs will be selected live, at random, for Wilco to perform during its regular set. The encores will feature more fan-requested songs submitted via Twitter, as well as a live version of “Stump the Band” in which audience members will request songs and attempt to stump Wilco, a variation on the original “Stump the Band” segment featured on The Tonight Show. The Solid Sound version will feature modern-day comedic talent John Hodgman standing in for the late-great Johnny Carson, polling audience members for their best song challenges. This is the first-ever all-request concert by Wilco. It may also be the last. Info on how to request songs coming soon.

Re: Solid Sound 2013

Wilco covering Roadrunner and Marquee Moon? Yes, please. Less than two weeks.

Along those lines, one of the festival’s most intriguing events will be Wilco’s first all-request show on opening night. The band solicited suggestions through online votes through June 4. “There are a lot of serious requests that people have put thought into,” Tweedy reports, mentioning the Modern Lovers classic “Roadrunner” (currently in the running to be designated the Massachusetts state rock song) and the sinewy Television opus “Marquee Moon.” Tweedy once took lessons from Richard Lloyd, half of Television’s guitar tandem, and secured his Tom Verlaine-comparable foil when Cline joined Wilco.

Encore requests will be drawn more spontaneously through Twitter and a round of “Stump the Band,” where comedian John Hodgman will play the Johnny Carson role, soliciting fan requests live. “There isn’t a lot of rock music that we aren’t machined to at least attempt,” Tweedy says. “We have a lot of faith in our audience and in ourselves.”

Marquee Moon was incredible.

Tonight was a 2.5 hour Wilco show which reached back into the back catalog.

And as I predicted, Foxygen was the non-Wilco highlight of the festival. Foxygen singer climbed the side of the stage and got manhandled by SS security. They are really really good.
