I should go to one of their shows this summer. They're playing a couple dates that I could drive to fairly easily and I enjoy them a lot. They were actually the first real concert I went to back in 2007 so I'd love seeing them a second time.

I was lucky enough to see them at Coney Island High in 1999. Venues don't get much smaller.

Does it at least come with the lyrics? Of course their album covers have always been garbage....I almost think Homme is trying to make them shitty on purpose.

No lyrics.
As for their album covers, it's a mixed bag for me.
Qotsa- great cover
Rated R- not bad, kinda clever
Songs for the deaf- minimalistic, I like it
Lullabies- does nothing for me
Era Vulgaris- would have worked better as a concert poster
Like clockwork- pretty cool

So in my mind that a pretty good batting average. My morning jacket is a band I feel almost have intentionally terrible cover art.

Hmmm .. I am going to be in Gdansk on July 5 when they are playing some festival there ... do not want to spend all day at the festival, but might try to go catch them there.

Scratch that .. I'll wait for them to come here ... seems like the festival will be a pain and require more time than I want to spend. They are playing Austin City limits in October, might try to hit that and whenever they come to Dallas

One of my friends is handicapped, so we got handicap seats, I think those are at the rear of the orchestra section.

I probably listened to this album five times today when I was cleaning the garage. Great stuff. My personal favorite is probably "If I Had a Tail", but I like every song on it

Yeah, this just might become my favorite of their albums from a consistency standpoint. Solid start to finish.

There is not a weak track on it and my favorite has changed a few times in the past week. I am pretty sure this will end up being my favorite of the year

Re: Queens of the Stone Age....new album soon?

This is the first time I've listened to these guys. Only song I was familiar with before was "No One Knows". Pretty good stuff. Especially like "If I Had a Tail".

Congrats to Homme & co. for hitting the top spot on Billboard! About time something good was #1.

Seriously? The last month has been Vampire Weekend, two weeks of Daft Punk and now QOTSA. Pretty good run!

And next week should probably be Black Sabbath.

Right, I'm sure he purposely writes bad lyrics. Makes perfect sense.

The Vampyre Of Time And Memories

I want God to come and take me home
'Cause I'm all alone in this crowd
Who are you to me? Who am I supposed to be?
Not exactly sure anymore
Where's this going to? Can I follow through?
Or just follow you for a while?

Does anyone ever get this right?
I feel no love.

Ain't no confusion here, it is as I feared
The illusion that you feel is real
To be vulnerable is needed most of all
If you intend to truly fall apart

You think the worst of all is far behind
The Vampyre of time and memories has died.
I survived, I speak, I breathe,
I'm here, I'm complete, I'm alive.
Hooray!
You're around again
'Cause I feel no love

Does anyone ever get this right?

In my post, I was talking about the shitty album covers...on purpose, not the lyrics.

Doubt it. The Rolling Stones can't even get a number one album these days.

Re: Queens of the Stone Age....new album soon?

The more I listen to this record, the more I love it.

This is probably the best thing Homme has ever done. At least as far as a tight and flat out great album.
