New Postal Service music in 2013...maybe?
So, The Postal Service's site just has this pic up:

If that means new music from them in 2013, then I am psyched. I like Death Cab for Cutie and Dntel well enough, but I think Give Up trumps both of their output (that I've heard). I just love, love, love that album.

(and the entire staff of Pitchfork media just had a collective heart attack).
In all seriousness, this is awesome news. I'm actually willing to wait ten years between albums if the quality of the second one is like the first.

Not as exciting as you had hoped...merely a 10th anniversary reissue.
It's official: The Postal Service are officially, actually getting back together. A website for the duo-- comprising Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Dntel's Jimmy Tamborello-- appeared earlier today, simply stating: "The Postal Service: 2013". And now Billboard has confirmed that Sub Pop will release a deluxe edition of the band's sole album, Give Up, next month, in order to commemorate the record's 10-year anniversary.
Billboard also states that three separate sources confirmed to them that the band is booked to play this year's Coachella, as previously rumored, and that "additional dates and festivals are also in the works." However, as Gibbard has repeated dozens of times, there are still no plans for another Postal Service LP.
Dntel and Gibbard both released solo records last year; Aimlessness and Former Lives respectively. Watch the video for the Postal Service's much-covered "Such Great Heights" below.

Gibbard just doesn't want to give Owl City new material to ripoff.

A few tour dates that I won't see and a reissue of an album I already own? Unless the bonus material (provided there is some) includes stuff other than the non-album songs and remixes they've put out... major
Art, schmart. Do they not want the oodles of $$$ a new album would bring?! First divorcing Zooey, now passing up this golden opportunity? And I thought my life choices were bad.

I love the first Postal Service album and still listen to it a lot, 10 years later.
Having said that, Gibbard pisses me off whenever he comments on PS in interviews. He keeps flat-out stating that there won't be a new album, or there or no plans for one, but never says why. Sometimes it comes across like he gets upset that people clamor more for new PS music than DCFC or his solo work. I could be reading into things, but still... he definitely doesn't throw any bones to PS fans.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. His solo album and the last two DCFC albums left quite alot to be desired.

It's because the stars were aligned on the debut. They both worked independently at their own respective studios passing files back and forth (vocal tracks, synth parts.) He doesn't feel it'd be fair to fans if the sophomore follow-up fell well short of expectations.
And he's probably right.

This is the only good thing Ben Gibbard has ever done. Some of the DNTEL stuff is ok, but not close to the quality of Postal Service. These guys need each other. DNTEL needs someone to write lyrics and melody, Gibbard needs someone to rein in his pretentiousness and get on with the pop.
I agree with everyone else here: the album was such a home run that it's completely baffling why they can't get it together for more music. Huge money to be made here, if nothing else.

Only one concert between the Mississippi and the Irish Sea? What's up with that?
Well, at least they won't have to worry about fans becoming annoyed because they're playing new stuff.

Re: New Postal Service music in 2013...maybe?

Ben Gibbard is marking two big anniversaries in 2023 as Transatlanticism and Give Up both turn 20 and, hey, guess what … he’s bringing both albums out on the road. Death Cab For Cutie and the Postal Service have just announced that they will embark on a co-headlining tour in the fall of next year. Gibbard, naturally, will be performing both sets, and he’ll be playing those albums live and in full. Pretty neat, huh?
The DCFC / Postal Service tour will kick off in September in Maine, and it’ll include stops at Merriweather Post Pavilion in DC and Madison Square Garden in New York City. The tour will make its way to the West Coast the following month, where Gibbard will play a home turf show in Seattle on Transatlanticism‘s actual anniversary (October 7), before wrapping up at the Hollywood Bowl in LA.
These will be the Postal Service’s first shows in a decade, since they went out on tour in support of Give Up‘s 10th anniversary. The lineup will be Gibbard, Jimmy Taborello, and Jenny Lewis. DCFC’s lineup will be the more recent configuration of Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr.
“I know for a fact I will never have a year again like 2003,” Gibbard said in a press release. “The Postal Service record came out, Transatlanticism came out. These two records will be on my tombstone, and I’m totally fine with that. I’ve never had a more creatively inspired year.”
Ticket pre-sales will begin next Wednesday (December 14) at 10AM local time and will continue the following day. General public on-sale takes place on Friday, December 16. More details here. Watch a trailer for the tour and check out all of the dates below.

I loved that Postal Service album. Still disappointed that we're never getting new material
