Sweet, blessed, much-welcomed drowning deaths by the score...

A cruise for people who have absolutely no passion for music. Music is background noise for downing daquiris and pina coladas.

Re: Smash Mouth back in the game

One of the funniest lines from a recent episode of Happy Endings is when Alex said “I haven’t been too interested in music since Smash Mouth left the game.” (I assume the thread title is a reference to that. If not, it's a lovely coincidence.)

I would so love to play Rock 'n Roll Jeopardy. I used to love watching that on VH1. My friends would refer to it as "Loser Jeopardy" when they'd see me rattle off the correct answers, er, questions. I don't know if I could hold my own against McGrath, though. The dude's a savant at the game.

Good luck getting Jeff Probst back

I used to like this band when I was growing up. I actually still have their first two albums in my iTunes.

NOW That's What I Call A Cruise! Vol. 1

I actually saw Sugar Ray live at Epcot last October. It actually wasn't too bad for a free show. But I'm not sure I'd pay to be on a boat with them. Truth told, I've never really understood the appeal of cruises in general, let alone those involving the Spin Doctors.

I recently saw on my old best friends Facebook that he posted pics of him and his girlfriend on an NKOTB cruise. I have no desire to speak with him anymore.

I have a friend who went on the same cruise. She's a hot Brazilian chick, so I might still talk to her...

Re: Smash Mouth back in the game

I remember some commercial for a "Sock Hop Cruise" and thinking about how sad and pathetic it seemed to tool around the Caribbean pretending it was still 1958.

Now I see this, and can't process how to feel.

1. (Most of) this is music I like/liked.
2. Themed cruises are still sad and pathetic.

But one thing is still very clear to me:"All Star" is a song I wish was wiped from human history. 10+ years later and I *still* can't stand it.

Re: Smash Mouth back in the game

It's surprising how the trend of music-themed cruises is getting so big. I wouldn't mind the 70,000 tons of metal cruise, but not much could get me onto one with Smash Mouth.

Re: Smash Mouth back in the game

I didn't like any of the said bands even in the 90s, but nothing reeks of conceding and relegating yourself to the nostalgia pile than doing these 4-5 act tours. They aren't so old and away from their peak that they can't still surprise us with another hit record or at least something that is a hit in certain circles (like how the local NPR station here played the hell out of the latest Wallflowers and Ben Folds Five albums, two groups whose heyday was the exact same time that Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, etc... peaked. Hell, Foo Fighters are bigger now than they were in the 90s) so its kinda sad. Its one thing when we're talking 60's groups who have maybe two original members left at best and haven't had anything remotely resembling a hit after 1971 doing these package tours, but groups whose peak was 15 years ago or less are only painting themselves into a corner by doing this.

Your friend got anal or a threesome out of it. Still, not worth it.
