New single hit Rdio today. Vey long, disco-esque track.

Getting more use out of the bobble head props.

Arcade Fire is one of the 3-5 currently-working bands that I listen to.

It hit the radio 2 days ago. Video has been posted already too.

I'm annoyed at the band right now. I heard about pre-orders allowing you early access to tickets, so I went to order the album on vinyl. It's $19.98, which is quite reasonable for a double album on vinyl, and I went through the checkout process only to find out that it's $18 for shipping! Are you shitting me? $18 to ship two cuts of vinyl in a cardboard box?

My friend suggested just pre-ordering the digital version, but I wanted the damn thing on vinyl, which comes with a digital download anyway. I told him I would just let him pre-order the digital and then he can buy me a ticket and I'll pay him back.

Once I saw the shipping charges I closed my browser. Love the band, love the music, but will wait until I can get the album locally to buy it for that kind of shipping bullshit. Not worth it for early access to tickets that likely won't include Portland anyway.

Mind you, I might be angry like a motherfuck 4 months from now when they play a special pre-order only show at the Doug Fir. Dammit. Digital only sounds like a plan, then get the vinyl when it's out.

Yet my crush on Reginé still remains.

Love the direction this new song is going. They were due for a slight shakeup in sound IMO.

Re: Arcade Fire -- Fourth Studio Album -- 2013

Yea... I was going to buy a physical CD pre-order, but shipping ruins it. I just bought the digital album, just to have another option for tickets. I'm sure I'll have an AMEX or venue presale when they actually go onsale for more chances.

This will be the first Arcade Fire album I won't purchase. The new songs they played on SNL were AWFUL.

I thought you were exaggerating. Then I watched the performance. You were most definitely not exaggerating. Awful.

They are trying to be avant garde now. I'll give it a chance. Still a great band.

The SNL stuff was bad....like real bad.

I'd never heard the band before, but I happened to turn SNL on just as they started this week. God, it was terrible.

I think the new songs didn't work as well live, at least in that setting. I feel like SNL is not a good venue for them, with like 12 people crammed into that tiny stage. They work better in a larger space.

Not to mention - hearing new songs live always is a bitch. The crowd doesn't know them, the band is still working out the best approach, etc, etc. When bands launch in to the "We're going to try out a new one on you!" when I go to shows that's when I hit the bar line.

Of the 5 new songs played on SNL, I thought 2 were good, 2 were OK, and 1 wasn't very good. I'll wait and see how they sound on the album.

I've only heard the two songs they played on SNL (didn't watch the special), and I really liked them quite a bit.

I especially enjoy the (understandably) heavy LCD Soundsystem influence on "Reflektor."

Very much looking forward to this one.

So it's a double album, and they want longer songs.

But it's only 13 tracks over 2 CDs.

Damn, how long could they possibly be. I thought some 7 or 8-minute songs, but wow.

They used to be good, before they decided to go the pop-dance route.

well the songs did manage to go on and on and on - they sounded like they were channeling Talking Heads (but on a very subpar kind of way)

I was actually thinking the same thing. It may be one of those situations where they literally created a head phone recorded that needs to be listened to all at once. The band hasn't misfired yet...so thats what I'm hoping for.

Both CDs are 30-35 minutes long.

the Wannadies double concept album 'Before/After' was released in that way too

but come on, you easily squeeze 70 minutes of music onto one disc.
