New Led Zeppelin remasters by Jimmy Page in 2013

Re: New Led Zeppelin remasters by Jimmy Page in 2013
I'd like to see some complete live releases similar to what the Stones have been doing with their Vault series. Obviously, Zep doesn't have nearly the breadth of material and different eras they can cover, but the hardcore fans could easily list five or ten classic shows that they'd like to see given a proper official release.

At the very least a 1975, 1977 and 1980 European show. Every now and then they'd do something off the rails. I had a bootleg of a 1973 show that had a version of "Thank You" that took up an entire album side. Quality was pretty bad though.

I wonder if he'll release their pre-concert rehearsal set of "A Tribute to Johnny Kidd and the Pirates" that has been out on bootleg? Great collection of rockabilly tunes that are on none of their albums! That would actually make a great CD collection there - all the non-Zep songs they did in concert.

As long as it’s new shit and not alternate takes, I’m interested. Though, I gotta say, the rough mix of “If it Keeps on Raining” on the deluxe edition of Coda is just as good as “When the Levee Breaks”, thanks to the tempo and bass line.

I wonder if like complete takes of Bonham's Moby Dick solo exist, as i've heard stories he did 10-15 minute takes and they chopped a few up to make the studio version

Having heard these remasters on my 2 channel setup, all I can say is ANY Zep fan who doesn't buy them needs to have their head examined.

Jimmy Page said that previously unheard Led Zeppelin music and ‘all manner of surprises’ will be released for the band’s fiftieth anniversary in 2018
Think they've exhausted everything they recorded in a studio, which just leaves live recordings. So get ready for a ton of new live Zeppelin records, which could be pretty great, actually.

A new album, with a short tour in support of it, would be an amazing way to go out.

Maybe the super cheap seats. If your lucky. More like $50,000 for a decent ticket.
They would have to do a lottery to make it work. Sign up on line and they draw names at random.
Even in the 70s heyday they were nearly impossible to get a ticket to. They would schedule multiple stadium shows in a big town and all tickets would be gone in the first hour or so.
There was a saying. "Led Zeppelin could play a week in every town and there would still be people who couldn't get tickets". I think it's a quote from Rolling Stone.
They were a phenomena we haven't really seen since. That's the origin of the Black Album and other satanic rumors. That they sold their souls to the devil for success. All the bad stuff that happened to them in later 70s up to Bonham's death are all attributed to the deal they made, the devil collecting on the bargain. John Paul Jones was the only one to escape any misfortune so the rumors are that he was the only one who refused to sign to pact.

Has anyone seen Robert Plant on his latest solo tour? I saw he announced some new dates and one overlaps with a work trip in Vail. I'll have nothing to do, so I thought I may check it out. But I've never listened to his solo stuff. Maybe I'll just wait until I'm out there and try and get one last minute.

I would strongly recommend seeing Plant on his current tour - it's been getting positive reviews. His last two solo albums are arguably the strongest material he's put out in his solo career - I'd check them out if you haven't already.
Naturally, Plant peppers in some LZ material along with his solo material when he tours.

I saw him like 12 years ago in Vegas at what was then still the Las Vegas Hilton. It was cool because he mentioned how he and Jimmy Page had sat over there in the venue and had watched Elvis perform on the stage he was presently on. The crowd was funny, they moved like the tide -- out to the cash bars and restrooms during a solo number and then rushing back in during a Zeppelin song

Show tonight! My daughter and I are so excited. Grabbing dinner now before the show. 7000 seat outdoor amphitheater and the weather is perfect.
Concert tickets came with the new album. I liked it.
