Selling out mostly. Appearing in insurance commericals, hosting cruises, etc. They need to stop releasing music if more things like Radititude & Memories are on the way.

They played ACL Fest a couple of weeks ago. I missed their performance, so I have no idea if they just played a greatest hits kind of showcase or if they actually had anything new.

Re: What' WEEZER been up to?

They had a streak going for a while where they released three albums in a row: The Red Album- 2008, Raditude- 2009, and Hurley- 2010 plus the compilation/rarities album Death to False Metal- 2010. I don't follow them as much as I used to but it seems like they still tour quite a bit particularly with their "Memories Tour" where they play the albums "The Blue Album" and "Pinkerton" in full. Aside from a couple one off songs for some soundtracks I don't think they've released anything new or hinted at a new album coming.

I know Rivers also released Alone III which is a compilation of demos and unreleased songs but it's only been released thus far with an overpriced book which I really don't care to pay for.

For a while I was really into their music (even the newer stuff) but I kind of got sick of them. They aren't bad necessarily but they definitely seem to have just gone the safe route with their music and just play mostly radio friendly pop when it seems like they're capable of a lot more than that.

Re: What' WEEZER been up to?

I was in high school when their first album hit. They became a bore after Pinkerton. The fact they lack charisma and stage presence sealed the deal for me.

"Weezer

As expected, Weezer delivered a greatest hits set, which left everyone happy. By the end of the show, I knew that I had made the right choice of picking them over Florence, who I heard was creepily delightful, by the way. Weezer led the crowd in a massive singalong, most notably and beautifully on “Perfect Situation,” “Island in the Sun,” and “Undone-The Sweater Song, which they emphatically closed out their set with. Rivers Cuomo even embraced the Texan home of the festival, donning a cowboy hat onstage. "

Re: What' WEEZER been up to?

I saw them in concert a few weeks ago - great set as usual. They tear through the songs quick, so it always feels short but then you look at the setlist and realize you got a good number of songs. This was a show at a casino, which was something I didn't think Weezer was at career wise (read: washed up) but it was a blast anyhow. No opener, just 85 minutes of Weezer doing their thing.

I'm pretty sure they stopped making music in 1996.

Maladroit and Make Believe deserve the hate for the most part (they actually have a handful of decent songs between them) but Red/Raditude/Hurley was actually a pretty awesome 3-album run, Death to False Metal is pretty decent too for an album made up of unfinished leftover tracks. If you bash on Green then you're just wrong.

I liked that three album run too. Particularly I thought the Red Album was really good. Raditude is a fun pop album. Hurley I didn't listen to that much but I did like the single "Memories". Death to False Metal sort of disappointed me though.

Re: What' WEEZER been up to?

I think they just take gigs at birthday parties now.

Really, I love Weezer. I haven't been into their new tunes, though. For me, it's Blue Album, Pinkerton, Green Album. The other stuff I just listen to here-and-there. But those three albums are epic, and still a joy to listen to - ten or fifteen years later.

Re: What' WEEZER been up to?

I think someone paid them $10,000,000 to stop making new music.
