Lady Gaga's "Artpop" release info (its complicated)
from her website
"ARTPOP is not just an ALBUM its a PROJECT
Im excited to tell you all that ARTPOP is going to be a multimedia experience that comes in different forms. The most major way to fully immerse yourself in ARTPOP is through the APP. ARTPOP will be released as an IPAD, iPhone, mobile and computer compatible application (WORLD) that is completely interactive with chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga inspired games, fashion updates, magazines, and more still in the works! I will also be able to upload new things to the APP all the time, the same way i upload to twitter and LM.com. You inspired me to create something that communicated with images, because YOU do, YOU communicate with me and each other with .gifs and pictures, and artwork, graphics ALL DAY 24/7/ YOU'RE an ARTPOP generation. Im hoping you will all continue to grow together and stay connected through your creativity. much love.
love, gaga
p.s (start asking for IPADS FOR XMAS!!) its gonna be so fun. but dont worry. it will also be released in the regular physical and digitals which will be unique and different to the app.
here's the one song that has been performed live "Princess Die"

also there's this too
The singer debuted an ARTPOP track, “Princess Die,” live in Australia in June, and has integrated the song into her regular Born This Way Ball set list. Before performing the track at a Perth stop last month, she told fans that her upcoming music will be a departure from her last effort.
“Let’s just say, I feel that when I wrote Born This Way, I demonstrated a sense of maturity,” she said to the crowd. “And I feel that, on the next album, there’s a lack of maturity, it’s a tremendous lack of maturity or sense of responsibility.”
and Elton John will appear on the album in a duet and rapper Azalia Banks wrote a song but no word if that song will be on the album

of all the crappy music i'm forced to listen to out at the bar, hers is some of the least offensive. So I say bring it on!

In other words, she's doing what Bjork did a year or so ago with her last album. Novel.

Re: Lady Gaga's "Artpop" release info (its complicated)
She's lost me as a casual fan... there's nothing she can do to recapture feeling of The Fame/Monster album(s)... She's gone in a completely different direction. I have absolutely no hope that Artpop will deliver at all.
Artpop coming out so fast on the heels of BTW can only mean one thing... they (Gaga's camp) are fully aware that BTW is/was a piece of shit. The Fame/Monster was out for a couple of years before the follow up was released. The Fame was such a good album that the record label was able to let it breathe and gain new fans over such a long period of time. I highly doubt BTW was an album that has generated entirely new Gaga fans.
Also, Born This Way has to be one of the biggest piece of shit follow-up albums to be released in modern music history. Sure, there has been others but BTW ranks in the top five shittiest albums every pressed to plastic.
Born This Way took a serious hardcore turn for the gay (obligatory Seinfeld "not that there's anything wrong with that"). But god damn, after one listen (purchased BTW for $.99) I felt like I needed to take a Silkwood shower, that or go out and buy some Dolphin shorts and some fishnet T-shirts.
Gaga, unlike Madonna (for comparison) who's career was a solid steady climb. Gaga shot out of a cannon and flew smack dab into a brick wall.
It will be interesting to see how well other female "pop" artist's who have follow up albums that are pending fare... like Ke$ha and Katy Perry for example. Personally, I think Katy's will be the most successful out of all of them... it just seems like her management team have crafted a "let's not fuck this up like Gaga" approach to things.
Sorry for the rant... I'm a little buzzed at the moment.

I don't know, it actually feels like forever since BTW came out. Probably only feels that way because so many discarded that album and quickly asked for another one.

It's not complicated. You ignore the apps and check out the regular album when it comes out. At least that's what I'm planning to do.

Re: Lady Gaga's "Artpop" release info (its complicated)
I realize she's a polarizing artist, but I think many are too hard on BTW. Sure BTW the song was pretty "obvious" but it's still a decent pop song. I still think "Edge of Glory" and "You & I" are two of her better songs. What a lot of people don't realize, is that before 2007 she was more like a Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, Vanessa Carlton type. It only makes sense that her music will probably migrate back in that direction as she matures. Although I'm sure she'll still release good dance tracks as Madonna has as her career has gone on too.

I'd be fine if her music migrated to any given style so long as it was good. Most of the songs on BTW were just damn boring.
