I didn't like Lady Gaga at first. "Poker Face" and "Just Dance" sounded like typical 90s pop songs to me. Much later I heard "Alejandro" "Dance in the Dark" and I discovered I like her music.

Then BTW came out with the hideous cover art and the too similar to Vogue sounding title song and I dismissed it. But I'm listening to the samples right now, and although not all the songs on first listen hit it out the park like The Fame/Monster, there's some tracks I really like. If I had to buy a whole album I might be let down, which is why I never was a fan of buying Pop or R&B albums back in the day, but she still puts out good songs, so I can just buy them individually and be happy.

I'm looking forward to the new album and I like the extra effort she puts into her music videos.

I enjoy both albums and the E.P. but I would have to give the nod to BTW for favorite. Looking forward to the new album but won't bother with all the apps and add on stuff.

Coincidental timing this came out the same day at Katy Perry's new single?

Maybe. She ended up leaking the song herself.

Meh. Not terrible, not amazing. But when it comes to pop, you can be good, you can be bad, but you should never be boring. And right now Lady Gaga is coming off as boring.

Agreed. I think she needs to make more songs that sound like Bad Romance. Say what you will about her as a person but Bad Romance is a fucking great track. Maybe I like trance too much but that song has a great vocal and an awesome driving beat that moves the song forward. IDK

I like the picture of the single. But the actual song is whatever. If it was a filler track it would be cool but as a lead single, no.

Even though Judas was kind of weird, I liked that song as well as Bloody Mary from her last album.

Wow, that sounds exactly like every other song on Top 40 radio. What an artist.

If there's anyone who hasn't seen it by now, definitely Google "lady gaga abramovic," click the first video link, turn your sound down, jump to about 1:24 in the video, and hit play.

Yeah, with all the porn on the Internet, that's at the bottom of my list of things to watch (again). Nice to see that she's entered the "Sex" era of her Madonna imitation, though. Also, is she tucking? That's a rather strange walk.

I just saw the VMA performance for "Applause." I'm liking the song more.

I think this is going to bomb quite badly. Everyone's reached Gaga overload. I loved her first album, her second was OK, but really soured on her image/music now, feels old hat. Good article about the likely backlash actually:

She performed 7 new songs from Artpop the other night, one of the highlights (or lowlights depending on what side your on) is a song called "Jewels & Drugs featuring TI, Too Short & Twista

a few posts down has timing's for just the songs, as the concert does have alot of talking & costume changes

I think when an artist has such a big album it's always going to be hard to follow up that. Michael Jackson came out with Thriller and no matter how hard he tried, it was going to be near impossible to top that album. Bad wasn't as successful as Thriller was. Yeah, some of it becomes old hat. We got used to Michael Jackson's eccentricities, vocal stylings, etc.

So yeah, I think it's possible that Lady Gaga's Artpop album might be a letdown on a financial level, considering how crazy her debut was but I really doubt that the album itself will be bad.

About the article. I thought it was interesting when the write mentioned tried to analyze the effect that Lady Gaga's outlandish wardrobe may have had on her music, but in general I found it not that great. The majority of it is speculating about future sales, and on how she's allegedly not as popular as she once was instead of focusing on the music.

It kind reminds me when I used to post at hip-hop forums and people would be tearing down artists based on their financial situations, whether their album went platinum or plastic, or whether or not they got beat up or the chain snatched instead of focusing on the quality of their music.

Amazon has the MP3 for $5.99 right now. Looks like they're trying to spike first-week sales vs running with it for the long haul.

I personally only see this album appealing to hardcore Gaga fans. The whole CD was very meh for me.

This has been streaming on iTunes Radio and is now on Spotify. It's definitely better than Born This Way, but not anything that's stuck with me.

Re: Lady Gaga's "Artpop" release info (its complicated)

I liked it. Too bad there's no vinyl release of it. It's got that heavy trance - dance vibe that the first album had. Honestly, I didn't care for Born This Way at all.

Keep it simple, stupid.

EDIT - a really expensive copy went up on Amazon for like $52 and change and I googled other spots and it looks to be an exclusive from her website and is only being sold in "bundles" with a bunch of crap for $60. Maybe they'll release it separately later on.

Born This Way had maybe two memorable songs. It's not hard to do better than that.
