I wonder if she will regret that if social distancing is relaxed by the end of the year in some places?

I hope it has more songs than interviews or talking but it might be only one hour and the DIsney Plus show the full concert?
I wonder how that could happen since she has a doc and concert on Netflix and thought maybe Netflix had exclusive rights to her stuff?

I just heard “You Need to Calm Down” and I actually liked it. I didn’t even recognize the voice as bein bees at first. It’s very catchy.
On listening to it again I think it’s funny and a little troubling that she’s perpetuating elements of toxic masculinity for her female listeners in such a pop-friendly song.

Taylor Swift is dropping a new album, tonight!
The Grammy winner took to Instagram on Thursday morning, July 23, to announce the exciting music news to her fans. "Most of the things I had planned this summer didn't end up happening, but there is something I hadn't planned on that DID happen. And that thing is my 8th studio album, folklore," Swift wrote. "Surprise [hug emoji] Tonight at midnight I'll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I've poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into."
Swift shared that she wrote and recorded this music "in isolation" but still got to collaborate with some "musical heroes" of hers, including Aaron Dessner, Bon Iver and Jack Antonoff.
"Before this year I probably would've overthought when to release this music at the 'perfect' time, but the times we're living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed," Swift continued. "My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That's the side of uncertainty I can get on board with. Love you guys so much."

Swift told her fans that folklore will have 16 songs on the standard edition, however, the physical deluxe editions will include a bonus track called "the lakes." Also, because this is Swift's eighth studio album she "made 8 deluxe CD editions and 8 deluxe vinyl editions that are available for one week."
The superstar singer shared, "Each deluxe edition has unique covers, photos, and artwork. Available exclusively at taylorswift.com."
Swift will also be dropping the music video for her song "cardigan" tonight, which she wrote and directed.

Good for her and I agree when she says "My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world".
That b&w forest photo on the cover reminds me of a black metal album cover, all it needs is an impenetrable band name logo at the top.

There's a surprisingly large amount of stuff on google images when you look for TAYLOR SWIFT BLACK METAL.

Maybe she's going to do a Poppy on us.

If I didn't know who the singer was, I would have thought it was 1990s era singer/songwriter style stuff like Aimee Mann, Sarah McLachlan, etc ...

I love “exile” (with Bon Iver) and “mirrorball”.
Don’t like that she doesn’t capitalize her songs.

If you want to buy the CD you have to go to her website or will Amazon and Target carry it eventually?
I admit I like her pop stuff better.

There is a TON of content about folklore on The Ringer website. Good reads, especially this FAQs article which covers several things that I was confused about, like how "the last great american dynasty" is the true story of the person who previously owned Tay-Tay's Rhode Island beach house.

I thought it sucked. Sucked. I was skipping through songs. I made her folder with older hits and just wanted to hear those. This was soulful and adult no doubt, but I don’t really like Swift for that. I guess I just like her pop stuff. This was, with the exception of maybe 2 songs, not at all replayable for me. Maybe I’ll try again after your recommend, but first listen was a travesty...

I mean music is subjective, and this is certainly a departure from her poppy stuff. But I think it's great and gets better on relisten. FWIW it currently has a Metacritic score of 89 , by far the highest score of her career. You may not like it, but I assure you that it does not suck.

Well, sucks to me is all I meant. Sucks to me. I didn’t like it. Didn’t say sucked for all and I don’t disagree that this is a complete departure and many may be in to that. I for one will be listening to Out of the Woods, one of my favs of hers from 1989 album, but I think was resurrected for some movie. Either way, that’s what I’ll be listening to tomorrow.
