You still missed Bombay Bicycle Club and The Head and the Heart.

It looks like XM's Alt Nation station threw up and created a concert. (That's not a bad thing.)

I'd be there in a heartbeat if I was anywhere near there.

I agree on the former, I was bored to tears seeing the Head and the Heart live.

If I was anywhere near Delaware I'd definitely try and make it. I saw the lineup for this a while back and it's pretty damn great. Would easily be worth the price of admission for Cake, Jack White, The Black Keys, and The Killers alone.

I think there's good deals from IAH to PHL/BWI, both of which are close enough.

I don't think there was a festival in 2011.

For me, this seems like the world's greatest deal. Australian concert prices are also insane. $50 for Best Coast, $100 for Black Keys. Paying retail to see all these acts would run easily $2000 here.

Re: Firefly Festival, a pretty exciting music lineup playing in... Delaware?

Honestly it doesn't seem that pricey to me at all really. Considering if you went to the bigger names on the list you'd probably pay at least $50 a piece. I'd love to have a festival with names like that close to where I live for that price.

It is. My dad works for the company producing the event. They're best known for their Warrior Dash races.

Heartless Bastards: I remember we approached random people outside a bar to sign my friend for a scavenger hunt and it happened to be these guys. One of the guys was not pleased, and didn't want to do it at first. Must have had a bad show. Haven't really heard of them since.

So let me know if anyone is going to this. I will be covering this for Rolling Stone and would love to meet up with any DVD Talkers if anyone goes.

I am guessing no one here attended since I think someone would have posted by now.

This festival was AMAZING. The vibe was as good as I can imagine. It didn't feel "corporate" or that the only objective was to get you to spend more money once you got there.

The people were great, the staff was great and the acts all put on great shows, except for Modest Mouse.

Even speaking with the acts, they LOVED Firefly and thought it was one of the best festivals they have played at.

Free old-school arcade. Hot air balloon rides. Brewery and winery on site. The stages were all super easy to get to.

My photos up on Rolling Stone's web site if anyone is interested:

Not a ton in there as they only do a recap, but my site has more and more are coming.

They already announced Firefly 2013 and I really suggest you go if you can.

Look forward to going. Have to say not looking forward to the hotel options in Delaware.

(Dover Downs might be nice)

I honestly think Red Frog events books up all the rooms in Dover before announcing the festival. I was lucky to get a room in Dover but that was only because I checked every other day. Rooms were sold out well in advance. Even for next year's festival rooms are basically sold out throughout Dover already.

Re: Firefly Festival, a pretty exciting music lineup playing in... Delaware?

I did not attend, but I did cover it for work, and had some friends that went. I'm pretty pleased that an event like this came to Delmarva, because there's usually nothing to do around here. It was the first year, but it was a great success. I believe tickets are already on sale for next year's event.
