Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show

Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
Audio sippets of this show appeared on the actual Cd Single for Down in It.
Pretty funny stuff. |
Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
EPIC - haha thanks for posting....just awesome. The dancing at 1:15 - gotta love it.

Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
Oh, wow. That was funny. Finally, I see the source of the last track on the "Head Like a Hole" single. I never knew that was Kelly Ripa doing that soundbite.
And I vaguely remember watching Dance Party USA as a kid. While we're in the embarrassing wayback machine, here's Trent in Light of Day: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/gM0MmNjy97s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
Seems the song "Purest Feeling" would have been more fitting than "Down In It".

Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
Wow.
|
Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
Woah. That's awful. When "Head" starting getting airplay I was honestly not into it. It actually didn't sound very original to me (they weren't the only band mining that territory). Glad Trent went on to make some really groove work.

Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
somebody wrote in the comments they intentionally wanted to go on this show as a joke. True or not? What's weird is there's not a single other clip from "Dance Party USA" on youtube. It looks like another American Bandstand, Top of the Pops, Countdown, etc. clone.

Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
wow...that was hard to watch.

Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
I think it's funny that someone paid $100 for the video.

-Many years ago, a young and naive Nine Inch Nails were asked what TV shows they'd be interested in appearing on. - As a joke (and likely drunk), they thought of the most absurd choice they could come up with at the time. -They were then informed their bluff had been called and were actually booked on said show (thanks again Sioux Z). -They hopped in their Honda Civic touring vehicle (hatchback) and travelled many miles to (I think) NJ for the big show. -They had a laugh making fun of the people, their fashion choices and hairstyles. Life was good. -Years later, the internet is discovered... -There's a moral in there somewhere. -Come to think of it, Skrillex may indeed owe me some publishing on that hairdo... |

Honestly that sounds like he was just embarrassed by it and tried to cover his "cred" with a lame story.

Sorry if I'm being obtuse and missing the joke, but that wasn't her.

Re: Nine Inch Nails on crappy late 80s dance show
As much as I like NIN, I don't think it's that unusual for them to be on this show, that song isn't all that dissimilar to something like EMF or any other number of things that were out at that time aimed at that audience, it's kind of just in hindsight knowing what NIN sounded like later that it seems kind of odd.

You think people who like dance music listen to lyrics?
