Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Went to Disturbed on Wednesday. Opened the tour here. GREAT show! Despite David just getting over pneumonia, he sounded pretty damn good.
Had floor tickets so that was a plus. Got me a pair of drum sticks from sound check (my brother works at the arena and drummer handed them to him)
Three Days Grace was the opener and they kicked ass. Not a long set but enough to get the place pumped up.

And I see so many that panned her. I thought she did a damn good job. Much better than the completely vanilla Brandi Carlile did with her songs.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Saw The Musical Box again in Toronto, last night. Fantastic.

If you're a fan of older Genesis, don't miss this tribute band.

I seem to remember reading a quote from Phil Collins to the effect of 'they play old Genesis better than we play old Genesis.'

Ended up staying for the complete 2 hour show; it wasn't always brilliant, but it was entertaining enough. Plus there were visuals onstage, and the crowd-watching was fun, and it all went by pretty quick. I was surprised though that the beats changed so often, nothing seemed to last more than a minute or two before changing gears, it never seemed to build into a frenetic energy at any point. (Biggest crowd responses were for classic-rock songs that were mixed in, from the likes of AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine and Beastie Boys).
I liked the new Crystal Method album quite a bit, so my wife got us tickets to see him "live" last weekend. We got bored and left halfway through. It wasn't advertised as a dj set, but there was very little that constituted as live, and only one song in 5 or so was an actual Crystal Method track. I can't imagine ever going back to see him again.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

2019-01-30: Metallica at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati.

Set a record for the largest crowd at US Bank Arena. Great show, but the sound on the first couple songs was terrible and you could hardly make out what they were. It was all bass and bass drum, couldn't hear the leads and vocals. But that cleared up as the night went on.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Saw Muse last night at the Citi Sound Vault show at the Hollywood Palladium. Getting into the Palladium sucked, waited 80 minutes to only get told to run to other side of building about 15 minutes before the band came out. Actually found a spot my wife could see, so it worked out.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

2019-02-17: Rick Springfield at Hobart Arena, in Troy, Ohio.

He's letting the grey in, but still can work a crowd for a fun show.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Saw KISS at the Forum last night. They were awesome as usual, although I would of preferred a few more rarities, with it being their "End Of The Road" Tour and all.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Morrissey is doing a Canadian tour for the first time in 15 years (finally got over the whole seal hunt thing I suppose). Tickets go on sale Friday, I hope to get some for one of the Toronto dates. And then hope he doesn't cancel the tour due to "illness" or something.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Saw Spafford in Athens, GA Saturday. Great show, super high energy. I think these guys will be the next big name in the jamband scene.
The opener Universal Sigh was also very fun.

How was the Peter and David show? I’m going to the Chicago one on Saturday. Was there an opener?

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

2019-02-26: Shinedown, Papa Roach, and Asking Alexandria in Dayton.

Pretty much a paint-by-the-numbers show for each of these bands. Decent peformances, but Brent Smith (Shinedown's singer) rambles on too much.

What did you think of Seger now? And FM without Buckingham?

Seger was having a blast and put on a great show, what is he now like 70 something? Could hardly tell.

FM lacked energy, Nicks nearly did any of here trademark spins. Mick was the only energetic one of the band. Mike Campbell more then made up for Buckingham on guitar. And Neil Finn was just fine as a vocal replacement. The Tom Petty tribute was great.

2019-03-08: Within Temptation, In Flames, and Smash into Pieces at the Chicago House of Blues.

Been waiting a long time to see Within Temptation and they sounded great. My first time at the Chicago HoB, cool place.
