Jamie West-Oram's playing is so great and distinct, IMO--he's a criminally underrated guitar player.

Saw Helloween on Monday in Chicago. This is their "Pumpkins United" tour where they brought back Kai Hansen and Michael Kiske after 25+ years away from the band. This is the original lineup that I grew up listening to and it was a treat to hear songs from Wall of Jericho and the Keeper of the Seven Keys albums from them.
Show was sold out, but the Concord is a small venue with probably around 1200 capacity, and they were selling heavily discounted tickets the week before the show. People in line with me traveled far though since this was the only midwest date. The only drawback for me was the band favored the left half of the stage while I was on the right side, plus I had one guy behind me that wanted to show he was a super fan and shouted/sung the lyrics throughout the night right into my ear. They also sang mostly in the dark which is typical nowadays for metal shows.

2018-09-11: Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band at the Fraze Pavilion, Kettering, OH.
Decent show, Ringo plays the crowd pretty good. Played 2+ hours straight with no opener. As expected, they played a mix of hits from the various guys' other bands, plus the typical Ringo/Beatles stuff.

Jack White in Tulsa, OK tonight. The show was amazing...changing the flat tire on the way home...not so much.

Went to Riot Fest over the weekend with my kids. Was surprised to see how young some of these bands looked that played earlier in the day. On the other hand, it was something to see how young Liz Phair looked at 51.

Nine Inch Nails
Jesus and Mary Chain
Tobacco
9/18 & 9/19
Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Great shows. Tobacco was ok. Jesus and Mary Chain were really good. I liked them far more than their albums.
Nine Inch Nails played two very diverse sets, only having two songs played both nights. Debuted The Perfect Drug, never before played live and released in 1997. Also got Happiness in Slavery, which made me pretty giddy.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
2018-09-23: Ozzy Osbourne and Stone Sour at Deer Creek Music Center Verizon Wireless Music Center Klipsch Music Center Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana.
Stone Sour put on a solid show. Corey said he was having voice problems due to allergies, but it sure didn't show, he's a good front man. Josh Rand blew out his knee prior to the tour and was playing from a chair, but everything still sounded great.
Ozzy was more energetic than I expected, and they sounded good, playing mostly hits. He only did 15 songs. I could have done without the half-hour guitar and drum solo, it dragged on too much. Despite this being called the "No More Tours 2" tour, Ozzy said he is not retiring and will still perform live music. He said this was only the last of the big worldwide tours (at least that is what I gathered for as much as I could understand him ).

Farm Aid and the Outlaw Music Festival. I really only went for Neil Young, but it was a good show. I saw Willie a few years ago and it was really hard to watch.

Tribulation at the Metro in SLC.
Great show, they do the most with a tiny stage. Kind of broke my heart when they started breaking down the equipment themselves after the show. They deserve roadies damn it!

I have tickets for Bob Dylan on Oct 12, Garbage Oct 13 and Ghost on October 26 and I just tore my meniscus. Waiting for an appointment for an MRI and to see an orthopedic surgeon so looks like I will be missing all three.

Past Friday I went as saw Queensr˙che (Todd La Torre) and they killed it. Dude had a bad head cold but you would have never known. Sound was great and was right up there front and center. First time seeing this lineup (which only has 2 original members)
Sunday night went and saw Def Leppard/Journey/Cheap Trick
Great show but the sound was horrible. Arena set up in a stadium does not work very well. Could hardly understand anything anyone was saying. I pretty much relied on knowing the songs. But overall it was a fun night.

2018-09-25: Butch Walker at the House of Blues in Cleveland.
I really like going to shows at this place, it's a small setting and the acoustics are great.
Butch is one of my favorite performers to see live, and he did not disappoint. He engages with the crowds well and knows how to get people going. Good to see him back with a full band again. Great show.

Got to see The Breeders last night. Kim is my all time favorite and this is the first time I got to see her and crew. They had a new band out of LA opening, Moaning, that was pretty good. They are definitely influenced by Sonic Youth, Joy Division and the Pixies.

Shonen Knife, final night of their American tour. If you don't leave a Shonen Knife show with an ear-to-ear smile on your face, then there's really something wrong with you.

First time seeing MBD, and while they put on a great show I was moderately disappointed by the muddy sound that buried the vocals. Shame....

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Simple Minds at The Orpheum, Boston. Maybe my favorite band of all time.
Pretty good show, and the set list was amazing. However, for one of the first times ever, a band member made me angry!
Simple Minds now is basically just Jim and Charlie, and a bunch of younger hired guns. They were all fine, EXCEPT the keyboard player. He was dressed like some hipster dufus, and that was okay when he stayed back and played keyboards. However, for a number of songs that SHOULD have had keyboards, like Promised You a Miracle, this dufus instead strapped on an acoustic guitar, and STRUTTED around the stage playing rhythm guitar (unnecessary)--MANY times walking up front and center, in front of both Jim and Charlie! Totally out of place, as if he was some central part of Simple Minds, when he probably wasn't even born yet when the band recorded some its best songs.
Anyways, when this guy stayed back behind the keyboards, they did sound great. This is from the show I saw:
