7/27/12: Autopsy/Ghoul/Noothgrush/Acephalix @ The Oakland Metro Operahouse
As a Metal fan this is a ridiculous lineup. I can't wait to leave! This will be my first show in about 3 weeks.

Saw Divine Fits in Austin last night. It was great to be a part of their first official show (they had a secret show the night before under a different name) and I look forward even more to their album.

8/2/12: John Courage and The Great Plains/Trebuchet/Odd Bird
Great show! A friend of mine plays in Trebuchet. I feel so lucky sometimes to have friends who are great musicians!

Dead Kennedys in NYC on 7/31.
Awesome show. Without getting into the purity argument, theband was tight and Skip was very energetic, fun and put his own spin on the songs while retaining the quirkiness of theoriginal versions. Meeting Klaus and Ray after was equally great.

Seeing Murder By Death tonight (8/5/12) at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco.
Last night's show sold out, so I'm happy a second night was added on.

Saw The Shins and The Black Keys last night - second time this year I've seen the Keys and they really put on a great live show. It sounded awesome and the crowd was really having a good time.

Brothers of the Sun (Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Grace Potter and Jake Owen)Saturday night. Not really a country music fan, but the wife is (this makes up for dragging her to various Metal concerts haha!).
But, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were a nice surprise. The stage/lighting was pretty cool too, it was entertaining. Besides, thousands of hot girls in teeny tiny shorts and cowboy boots!

7/26 - Toubab Krew - some nice world music, enjoyed the set, don't know if I could handle a full 2+ hour show.
8/6 - The Dukes of September - Fagen, McDonald and Scaggs. Great night of music.

Jack White (with the Girls Band) on Aug 11, 2012 at the Shrine Auditorium. One of the best shows I've seen in a while.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Saw Diana Krall last night at the amazing new Smith Center, which is a gorgeous, elegant performing arts center that just opened a few months ago in downtown Las Vegas (my first time at the venue). The acoustics are fantastic there.
I thought she was great. She's a sublime singer and her jazz piano is really impressive. What I hated though was that it was sort of treated like a Jazz quartet, in that there were extended jazz guitar, stand-up bass and drum improv solos. Not that they weren't fine musicians, but when you pay good money to see Diana Krall, you want to hear her sing standards and play piano. A four-minute bass solo is not what I was expecting.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Springsteen at Fenway Park last night---awesome! I'm a moderate Springsteen fan (own about half of his output, I'd say) but this was the first time seeing him. I see why his live shows are considered legendary. Great setting, great weather, and he played Atlantic Ciy, Badlands and Born to Run, so I was happy. I like the new album well enough, too.

8/13 - Joe Walsh @ Wolf Trap - Fun show, great songs. He went off the setlist and play I Like Big Tits, that got a big smile from me.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Saw Blues Traveler & Barenaked Ladies at Jones Beach last night in Long Island. Got there too late, so I missed Cracker and Big Head Todd.
BT was pretty good - opened with Sublime's "What I Got".
BNL still puts on a great show, even without Steven Page.

Saw Mumford & Sons on their Gentlemen of the Road Stopover tour in Bristol TN / VA. Dawes and Jeff the Brotherhood were in the lineup as well. Good show. Good crowd. Beautiful weather which was nice since we were standing in a parking lot for 6 hours.

My real motivation was to see Cracker and secretly hope Camper Van Beethoven came out instead.
