You're supposed to go to the link www.livenation.com/20ticket to get the deal, but I haven't been able to get the site to load all day.

Shonen Knife at a little local club/bar place in a neighboring city. Great show, they were so fun and the drummer was going crazy.
My pics (not great)

Only shows jumping out at me for the All In are Slayer and Garbage/Blondie. Gotta check the schedule though.

Dwight Yoakam at House of Blues Boston last night.
Really fantastic, great band behind him. He played two hours straight with almost no space between songs. I don't like much mainstream country music of the last 25 years or so, but Dwight brings it old-school. He toured with X recently, and he talked about his cowpunk days in the 80's and hanging around with bands like X, The Blasters, Cruzados, etc. All his hits, plus a good 7 or 8 covers, and he brought out this for the encore:

Saw a few shows over the past week or so. Delain & Hammerfall, Sabaton & Leaves Eyes, and Testament & Sepultura, all at the Concord Music Hall in Chicago, 3 shows in 5 days.

Midnight Oil at House of Blues, Boston. Great show on this reunion tour--they're in top form and sounded great!

No Opeth/Gojira/Devin Townsend? What an awesome show it was. Townsend had the crowd going already as an opener, Gojira was massive and Opeth was, well Opeth.

Man, I wish that tour was more extensive. They are not coming anywhere near Texas. I would like to see them.

Isn't she a trip? She looks like she's literally having the most fun she's ever had in her entire life. Saw them last year. They keep having to replace the drummer (third one I've seen in the last 10 years), and they somehow manage to find a little ball of energy each time.

Sabaton, Battle Beast and Leaves' Eyes last night in Anaheim. Leaves' Eyes were excellent, then Battle Beast came on and blew them away. Then Sabaton came on and blew both Leaves's Eyes and Battle Beast away. . This was my 5th times seeing Sabaton and they seem to get better every time I see them.

Saw Xandria, Kobra and the Lotus, and Once Human last night in Joliet. Not a super fan of Xandria, but I was really impressed with Kobra and the Lotus, and really love their new album. I was disappointed that Once Human didn't play any tracks from their first album.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Saw Sylvan Esso at The Fillmore in Charlotte last Sunday. It was a much better show than I'd anticipated. For such a "mellow" band, SE really rocks live. A couple of thoughts:
- At 46, I really am "getting too old for this shit", being packed in with 22 year-old dudes who still haven't discovered the wonders of deodorant, girls who won't shut the fuck up about what "that bitch Mackenzie did" Saturday night, especially during the better songs. Drunken Australian men "dancing". Blech.
- It was my first trip to The Fillmore, and I just don't understand what all the Facebook hate is about. Yes, The Fillmore is owned by the "suits" at LiveNation, and yes, they might have had something to do with the closure of many beloved local venues, like Tremont Music Hall, the Double Door Inn, Amos', the Visulite, and others. But here's the thing: unlike those beloved, but shitty and run-down, venues, The Fillmore is nice. They had staff checking all the AC vents before the show (Tremont and Amos' didn't even have AC). The Fillmore had guest services people milling about the crowd before the show, answering "where's the merch table?" and "where's the CRAFT beer?" questions. They had people cleaning the venue and the bathrooms *during the show*. Compared to other Charlotte venues (I'm looking directly at you, Milestone), the bathrooms were positively spotless. Basically, the "corporate sellout" Fillmore fixes almost everything people otherwise endlessly complain about the Charlotte music scene. And it seems to get nothing but hipster scorn in return.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Pixies in Boston last night. Sounded great, sold-out house. As a casual fan, the setlist was a bit of a miss for me, as I probably knew less than half the songs they played. Fun show, though---glad I got to see them.

Saw the mighty Midnight Oil at the Wiltern in Los Angeles last night. This was one of my bucket list bands I somehow never managed to see back in their heydey. I can honestly say that was one of the best concert experiences I have ever had. The band is mostly in their 50's and 60's, yet they played with an intensity I rarely see these days. It was so exciting to watch how the band members would smile at each other and push themselves to deliver. They are supposed to swing through the states again in August. Don't miss them if you get the chance.
