Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Finally got to see The Linda Lindas

Not a very good picture but I wanted to just enjoy the show insted of fiddling around with my phone. Damn these kids are fun, and they're having fun themselves. I hope it's always that way for them, they never get old and just "go through the motions" like so many bands I see nowadays (granted, I often go see bands whose best days are long behind them anyway). I don't know their tour schedule, and three of them are still in high school. Hell, one might not even be in high school yet. So they kinda have to work around that when it comes to touring. But next year they'll be playing massive stadiums with Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins, so if you get a chance to see them at a small venue before that happens, I suggest you do it ASAP.

Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets.
Always good. I would have liked a bit more solo Straitjackets.
We got there early (gen ad) and sat up on a balcony in one of a dozen comfy seats, and the only seats with a table. We were almost as far away from stage as we could be (which actually wasn't all that far, it's a small venue), but we greatly preferred that to standing in a crowd for three hours.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

I have a ton of shows that I haven't posted here, but I'll put this one for Shadows Fall. First time seeing them, they were disbanded for a while, and the drummer moved onto Flotsam & Jetsam, then Overkill, and the guitarist moved to Anthrax, so it looked like they were done, but miraculously, they reformed and have been touring, and look to be working on new music.

11/21/23 - In This Moment, Ice Nine Kills, Avatar & New Years Day in Greensboro

Personally I enjoyed Avatar the most from this lineup followed by New Years Day.

^^ I really like New Year's Day. I talked for a while with Ash Costello a couple of years ago after one of their sets at a festival. Avatar is hit and miss for me with their songs, but I like their live show.

How may breaks did In This Moment take for Maria Brink costume changes?

There were a handful of costume changes but they didn't take too long. It was mainly getting out of one robe and getting into another. They actually played 10 songs which is more than what I have seen listed for previous tours. I did not care for her cover of Nine Inch Nails "Something I Can Never Have".

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

11/24/23 - Martina McBride(Christmas show) - Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts

This was a last minute addition as my brother had originally bought these tickets as a surprise for his wife but ended up not being able to use them or sell them, so he transferred them to me. The reason he couldn't go was because he won tickets to the Garth Brooks concert at his bar in Nashville that took place on the same night.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

I saw 15 bands on the Headbanger's Boat, but I'll just finish with a couple of the bigger bands. Testament played two sets on the boat, one contained the first album front to back and some others, and the other set had their second album front to back, so that was a nice treat.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

The main headliner and boat sponsor was Lamb of God.

This inaugural cruise sold out during the presale, so definitely a demand for this heavy metal / metalcore blend of bands. I would have liked more bands on the boat, but having just 15 made it easy to catch them all and see the favorites a couple times. The guy that jumped off the boat just before the last day of shows really messed up the schedule though, so while missing second sets of some of my favorites, I did prioritize to see each of the bands at least once. Headbangers Boat 2024 is already on sale, about 80% sold right now, I'm passing for now, but if I'm feeling it later, maybe I can add myself to a room later on. I already have 2 metal cruises scheduled for next year.

Garth Brooks / Plus One Residency at Caesar's Palace Colosseum.

One nice thing about living in the Entertainment Capital of the World is that there are a ton of artists in some sort of Residency here, and with the exception of Adele and U2, having so many dates seems to allow for some decent last-minute deals on the secondary market. My wife felt that two Garth shows were enough for a lifetime, but despite me already seeing him three previous times here (Wynn Solo Acoustic Residency 2010, T-Mobile Arena, 2016, Allegiant Stadium 2021), I wanted to check this new residency out. I have just been watching ticket prices as the shows come to pass. Today I checked around 2 for tonight's 8pm show. Got a single ticket just for me in the 202 section with a face cost of $353 + fees (probably $425-450 total) for $160 + $59 in fees at Seat Geek. That's a seriously good last-minute deal. Great seat (no photos -- they make you lock up your phone in a bag, like a comedy concert).
It was a fun, crowd-pleasing show. This show had a full 12 piece band with all his regular musicians, unlike his previous solo Residency. Garth is always an energetic showman who gives the crowd what they want. He even mentioned that he hates going to shows where the artist only plays the new stuff instead of the hit. Tricia Yearwood came out for a couple of songs. I don't know if she does that for every show he plays, but she's 4 out of 4 for me. Ironically it became my second consecutive concert with a surprise duet performance of The Shallow.
Garth has had an absolutely absurd hair transplant. He mostly wears a hat but when he takes it off he looks like a Chia Pet. Doesn't he know we all know he's bald and we're cool with it? Whatever I guess, it's his money to spend as he wants.

My brother and his wife flew out to Vegas around July to see one of his shows. He has seen Garth at least half a dozen or more times including the show at Bank of America stadium in Charlotte late last year(he was on the field a few rows back of the stage). He also won tickets for him and his wife to see Garth at his new bar in Nashville a couple of weeks ago that streamed on Amazon Prime live black Friday night. I don't remember if he said whether Tricia came out in Vegas or not, but I know she did in Nashville.

A couple of my better photos from the Chicago House of Blues show of Herman Li from Dragonforce and Elize Ryd from Amaranthe.

I went to my first concerts since Covid in November, Breeders with Belly, then a few days later Devo. Both great.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

Damien Rice on December 5th at the Orpheum in Los Angeles. I'm not super-familiar with his music, but my daughter is a huge fan. What an amazing atmosphere he managed to create with just an acoustic guitar and his voice. He did have another musician singing some back-up vocals were necessary and playing cello. I'm pretty sure my daughter will take awhile to recover from that night .

Big fan of his. I didnít realize he had a following among the ďyutes.Ē Thatís pretty good for an Irish folk singer who hasnít released an album
in a decade.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

I have to love my daughterís diverse taste in music. She and I saw Depeche Mode last night at the. Kia Forum. I got the cheap seats in the upper level, but it didnít diminish the show at all. I havenít seen DM since 2001. I was astonished at how strong they are in a live setting. We were lucky enough to have Martin perform ďDressed in Black AgainĒ and was one of the highlights for me. Daveís voice was very solid throughout the show. They have two final dates left in Los Angeles. If any of you are even casual fans, donít miss it. It was one of the best shows Iíve seen in a long time.

Saw Steel Panther at the Forge in Joliet. First time seeing them and I understand that they are a parody band, but it was still odd to see women showing their boobs, and rubbing the singer's crotch, etc. There was one that the singer sucked on her nipples, and she was gorgeous and all, but she was actually in line with me going in, otherwise, I'd have to had thought she was part of the act.

Yeah, Steel Panther puts on a good show (seen them a couple times).

Saw Dirty Honey last week for the 3rd time. Really like their new album.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?

As a fan of 80s hair metal, I love Steel Panther. I know I shouldn't because, well, their songs are horrible (in terms of content). My wife calls them a "joke" band - I always say, No, is Weird Al a "joke" musician? They are parody and darn good at it, and are talented musically in their own right. I've seen them three or four times.

Last show - Post Modern Jukebox. In terms of songs, the set list was interesting, but it was an incredible show. The person who sang Hallelujah (Effie? Ellie?) was amazingly good, as was the tap dancer.
