Austin City Limits Hall of Fame show honoring Wilco/Lucinda Williams/Alejandro Escovedo on 10/28. Great show, lots of special guests & it was so, so refreshing that cell phones were banned due it being a TV production. It's the first show in a very long time that I haven't had to peek through thousands of cell phones to see.

Made the trek down from Chicago for this twice pandemic-postponed cave show 333 feet underground in Cumberland Caverns. Wonderful experience and visual setting.
And MBD always delivers.....

I saw The Rolling Stones Nov. 6. My first concert since before the pandemic.
anyway, great show. It’s hard to believe Mick Jagger is 78 and the same age as Joe Biden.

Saw Jinjer at the House of Blues in Chicago the other day, Suicide Silence opened. Apparently she recently married someone in that band, so they are riding her coattails.

Sting has finally started his Las Vegas residency My Songs after multiple delays due to Covid-19. I saw him tonight with the wife and he was fantastic. Really enjoyed the show.

2021-11-17: Geoff Tate at Oddbody's in Dayton. Probably not a couple hundred people there. He played through Rage for Order and then Empire. Sounded rather good, not "Queensryche good (especially the drums)", but still decent.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Sadly, the last concert I attended prior to COVID was the B-52's 40th anniversary tour with OMD and Berlin back in September 2019. I had tickets for Keane and Kraftwerk in the Spring and Summer of 2020, but both were cancelled. Right now I have tickets for Erasure in February, Tears for Fears in June and the Red Hot Chili Peppers with the Strokes opening in September. I got tickets for Kraftwerk's rescheduled shows in June, but then Tears for Fears announced their tour and (naturally) both were the same night in my area. So I chose them over Kraftwerk. Who I've seen, and they are truly amazing live. But I cannot pass up seeing TFF again. Especially with Garbage opening. So now I have to find someone to buy my Kraftwerk tickets. Still no word on Keane rescheduling their previous tour. I've only seen them once before and will definitely go again.

So bummed I had to miss that tour due to work. But Sanguis announced a run with Nile, Incantation, and I AM early next year I'll be able to make. Now I just need to catch Frozen Soul at some point.

NYC ska legends The Toasters
Like most indie bands 35+, there are minimal original members left, in this case just the singer/guitarist. And the set was a by-the-numbers run through of the popular songs from the band's deep catalog. But damn, it was still fun. And for a rotating group of musicians (I've probably seen them a dozen or more times in the last 30 years, and never the same lineup) they always manage to have a cohesive sound with a really tight horn section. Having played in a ska band with a horn section, getting them all to play the right part and in key is literally an hours if not days-long effort in the practice room.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Saw Foo Fighters on Thursday at the recently renamed (and re-speakered) Dolby Live Theater at Park MGM (5200 seats, but more capacity with SRO floor that night). Second time ever seeing a full set of theirs. What an amazing, energetic group of rock legends. So many great songs. You certainly get your money's worth with Dave Grohl & co. Show went 3 hours. And that was after literally the worse opening band I have ever heard. They were called Kills Birds (which is a gross name, BTW) and they were yelling and screaming and strumming their guitars like a bad high school act. After one song, I stood up and excused myself as I moved past like 14 people to get the hell out of there. Thankfully I had seats in the Mezzanine level, as there was just a sea of humanity crammed onto the floor, and I would have had to just gut it out. No thanks.

Extinguish (Sacramento, CA) got added as the local opener for the show I went to, which made it even more amazing.
I was thinking about going to that Nile/Incantation/Sanguisugabogg tour but I've seen all three bands before and Chamber (Nashville, TN) is playing at my friend's venue the same night.
Hope you get to see Frozen Soul at some point! They were so good live.

6 to 10 inches of snow in the region didn't stop a decent crowd from showing up to see Cattle Decapitation in Joliet IL last night. The roads were a bit perilous on the way to the show, and luckily I brought my snow shovel with me as I had to shovel out a lady and her son that were stuck.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
Saw System Of A Down, KoRn and Helmet this past Friday (2/4) at the Banc Of California Stadium in L.A. Missed the opening band Russian Circle, due a lack of parking spaces at the venue. We normally don't have a problem when we go there, but looks like there was a lot of construction going on there. Eventually found one nearby which was very pricey, but at that point we were desperate, so we just parked there. All three bands put on a good show, well worth the hassle.
Saw Dream Theater and Arch Echo the next day at the Microsoft Theater. Good show, just wished they played more songs that I was familiar with.
Tonight, I'll be seeing Soulfly and four other bands at our local bar.

I like Soulfly, but Max always looks like he's made out of concrete. No movement from him whatsoever.
