Trans-Siberian Orchestra December 28th at the Xcel Energy Center. Never seen them before but was a fan of the band Savatage that sprouted TSO. Fantastic!!!

Did you see any of the videos from when the two bands played together at Wacken back in 2015? Savatage played first, then TSO on the adjacent stage, and then both at once, with some members crossing back and forth. Unfortunately, all I can find now are audience vids. There used to be a pro-shot one that has since disappeared.

^^ They are still out there, here's "The Mountain" and "Carmina Burana". I still hope TSO does a Gutter Ballet show someday.

Awesome! Thanks for those.

I did the first two nights of Phish's annual NYE run at MSG. Love that band and the venue, but the $16.50 beers killed my bank account.

Caught Steve Harris' solo band British Lion last night in Joliet. What an experience to watch him in action from front and center just a few feet away. He didn't play any Maiden tracks, which I knew from looking at the setlists, but everyone in the audience cheered as if he was. His solo material is very strong and he plays a long set but still came out with the band after the show for autographs and photos with everyone. Normally there is a barrier that creates 4 or 5 feet of spacing between the stage and fans which photographers and security use, but Steve had them move it up against the stage, shows he really likes playing in these small clubs.

2020-01-22: Grace Potter at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati. I like how her she mixes up her shows and doesn't tend to stick to a pre-defined set list. Very entertaining and personable. Nothing flashy or fancy, just good music and stories.

Silversun Pickups at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA Feb 5, 2020

Side note, Live Nation bought out The Observatory in the last year or so. I have done a VIP table multiple times for anywhere from $75 flat for a table to $180, but had a $150 bar credit basically. First time since Live Nation, stools behind the tables are now $85! And no deals (at least at first) LOL! Luckily we were there early enough and got a good spot, and they hit me up twice about it, and once decent girl asked "Well what would you pay?" and that was for a back row chair, so I told her thanks, but no thanks at any price.

I really enjoyed seeing one of my favorite filmmakers and to hear him on the moog and play his guitar while watching way-ahead-of-his-time films by Man Ray. Such a marvelous event and evening. I got Jim's autograph and found him very approachable and personable. Of course I lapse into hapless fanboydom and made a utter fool of myself with my laughable gushing. LOL

“We feel very proud to be Man Ray’s backup band.” — Jim Jarmusch

Director Jim Jarmusch and composer Carter Logan (aka avant-garde post-rock duo SQÜRL) perform live to four surrealist and dreamlike silent films by artist Man Ray. They’ll create the semi-improvisational scores onstage in the Walker Cinema, with loops, synthesizers, and effected guitars that display the band’s experimental, ambient, and drone-like tendencies. Featuring Le retour à la raison (Return to Reason) (1923), Emak Bakia (1926), L’étoile de mer (The Starfish) (1928), and Les mystères du château de dé (The Mysteries of the Château de Dé) (1929). 68 min.

Titles by Man Ray are in the Ruben/Bentson Moving Image collection. Major support to preserve, digitize, and present the Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection is generously provided by the Bentson Foundation.

Sinéad O'Connor Saturday night at The Coach House in SJC, CA. She was really good, but I laughed at the fact that she came on about 8:10pm, and was over at 9:25pm...Perfect for us adults...

They Might Be Giants
Vic Theater
Chicago, IL

The 30th anniversary tour of 'Flood' was a lot of fun. Opening set featured the entire album (minus 'Istanbul' - which was played late in the 2nd set), including a version of 'Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love' played backwards.
20 minute break ended with a short semi-acoustic set, a music video (Underwater Woman) and then second set which consisted of "songs the person sitting next to you will know". Nice mix of obscure and more familiar stuff from their huuuuuge catalog.

The Johns looked like they were having as much fun as we were.

Saw Dragonforce with Unleash The Archers and Visions of Atlantis at The Regent on Friday. All bands were amazing, especially Unleash The Archers.

Saw Of Montreal on 3/6 in Philly, pretty good show, though I'm worried it'll be my last show for far too long.

Guessing this thread is going to be pretty quiet for the next month or so.

Yeah, I’m supposed to see Sierra Hull on the 20th and Ghost Light on the 25th, but am worried I’ll miss out on both. Sierra is playing at Auburn University’s new performing arts center, and they just canceled classes today. The students are on spring break and have been told their professors with be in touch via email to set up online classes.

Yeah, I'm supposed to see Mayhem and Abbath in Toronto next month, I'm waiting for the tour to get postponed or cancelled, especially since they will be coming over from Norway.

Aaaand, I just got an email from Ticketmaster, cancelled! I went to Ticketmaster's website and holy shit, every show everywhere is cancelled. This is a shitload of lost money for a lot of companies and people, that's for sure.

I've been checking Ticketmaster, and the official Twitter accounts of Billy Joel and Bank of America Stadium about the status of his show next month in Charlotte. It's a dream show for my daughter, and she's so excited for it. We've got good seats, a hotel room, the whole works. So far, no announcement, but I know it's coming.

Yup... and I don't think the industry is going to be the same.

I was scheduled to fly to Chicago to see Dragonforce/Unleash the Archers and Visions of Atlantis, but that entire tour is cancelled. Looks like VOA took a pretty bad financial hit as well and are still trying to figure out how to get back to their respective homes given the border situation over in the European countries. Michele Guaitoli (VOA's male singer) is actually from Italy..

Then next month was I going to Germany to see Serenity/Dynazty /Victorius/Ad Infinitum (Melissa Bonny's new band . This was going to be their 1st show). Those shows are now postponed.

I think I read that LiveNation canceled or postponed all of their concerts. Since they have close to a monopoly on the larger venues, that'll be a lot of shows. Smaller venues are having to close due to being larger than 250 people, and then there's the bands that simply don't want to be exposed. My next concert isn't scheduled until July I believe, so who knows if it will still happen.
