Amazon albums $4.99. How much longer will that be?

So today I've been scrolling around on Amazon and it seems like every single album I want is $4.99. It's kind of pissing me off actually since I know I can't possibly afford ALL the albums I want and the price is too good to be true. How long has this been going on? Is it some sort of Christmas weekend special? I can't decide whether to buy some of the albums today...or hope that tomorrow I'll receive an Amazon gift card as a gift and hope the prices are still that low.

I feel depressed. lol! Too good to be true. Any other audiophiles having the same problem?

They're only got a few albums listed on the landing page, but it looks like they're including almost everything besides Sony-signed artists and deluxe/multi-disc sets.

^Yes, Amazon is matching many of the prices. Google seems to have more though at a discount.

I can't figure out the Google thing(only seeing a handful of albums) but sure enough I checked my Amazon wishlist and there are a half dozen albums I've been wanting down to $4.99.

*edit - Dayum son! Just searched for what I wanted on Google and between both sites there are probably a dozen albums I've been wanting. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Amazon seems to have more newer releases at $5, whereas Google has a lot of discounted catalog titles. Between the two, there's a lot of great deals to be had. I'm gonna have to do some serious searching when I get home.

well I listen to a LOT of pop music mostly - so I'm talking about stuff like LeAnn Rimes, Hanson, He Is We, Gin Wigmore, Brit Nicole, JoJo, Amy LaVere, Michael Buble, Norah Jones, Collide, .... pretty much anything and everything I've looked at in MP3 format is $4.99

The page for the sale just says a very unspecific "January 2012" at the top, so you have a little (non-specific) amount of time.

I saw this post and checked it out. Some pretty good albums for just $5. I grabbed Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band "Live Bullet" and a Jethro Tull GH. it'll bethe first time dealing with the 'Cloud Player' but in the past the MP3's quality is pretty good.

I went a little nuts with this sale, but I usually play catch up at years end with all the Best of 2011 lists.

So many good surprises and I am not disappointed by any of these:

Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972
Nerves Junior - As Bright As Your Night Light
The Horrors - Skying
Wild Flag - Wild Flag
Sbtrkt - Sbtrkt
Elbow - Build A Rocket Boys!
Wilco - The Whole Love
Gold Panda - Lucky Shiner
Youth Lagoon - The Year Of Hibernation
A Winged Victory for the Sullen - A Winged Victory for the Sullen
Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto
We Were Promised Jetpacks - In The Pit Of The Stomach (Amazon Exclusive Version)

That is one of the three albums I've owned on 8-track, vinyl, and CD. The other two are Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell, and Queen's Greatest Hits. I didn't buy a lot of cassettes.

Still a lot of $4.99 albums available.

So, I don't think the war is over ... yet.
