Your picks for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame...
Every year we bitch about the Rock Hall, here is your chance to fix three "wrongs"...
You can pick up to three inductees into the Rock Hall. Only requirement is they would be currently eligible to be inducted.
Who do you pick?
Mine:
The Cars: First eligible in 2003 (first album in 1978), never been nominated. Very surprised that they have not been at least nominated. Tons of great songs and hooks and one of the few "new wave" kinda bands that most everyone liked.
X: First eligible in 2005 (first album in 1980), never been nominated. Punk is pretty under represented in the Rock Hall (are there more rappers than punkers in the Rock Hall?) and X is the finest example of talent. Killer Harmony and Billy Zoom is a great musician. (Trivia: John Doe is singing the version of "I Will Always Love You" that Whitney Houston's Character hears for the first time in The Bodyguard)
Rush: Not a huge Rush fan, but certainly worthy. Wanted to pick one band that is getting screwed by JW.

The Beastie Boys
The Red Hot Chili Peppers - Some folks here hate them, but I feel they've put out 30 years of quality material and are hall-worthy
The Cure - Love that band, and I really hate almost all of their contemporaries. Their best stuff is so beautiful and it holds up so well.

I'm at the point where I really don't want to see Rush in there anymore. The band members themselves don't care, and putting them in after all this time would just come across as "okay, stop bugging us, you nerds".
The band I'd really like to see get in are KISS.

Deep Purple, Rush and Kiss are the 1st 3 that need to be in there. After they are in there can be further discussion.

John Denver
He gets a bad rap for being corny and happy-go-lucky and not quite fitting into a specific genre, but I don't think you can argue with his songwriting and his albums sales. Looks like he's tied for 51st all time in US sales.

He did fit into a genre. Garbage Folk.

I would waste on pick by adding Doug Yule as a member of the Velvet Underground. That he wasn't included is about as petty a thing as I could imagine.

Deep Purple
Jethro Tull

Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers
Yes
(are the first three to come to mind - though I'd like to see Television & Pere Ubu in there as well)

I pay so little attention to the RnR HOF that I honestly have no clue who is and is not in. So I'll just say The Residents, King Crimson, and Daniel Johnston.
