Paul Weller - New Album - Sonik Kicks 3/27/11
Best news I've heard in since his last album was released! New album is called "Sonik Kicks" and is being released on March 27th in the States. They've released one track already - and I have to say, I absolutely love it! If you haven't heard him, do yourself a favor...
My absolute favorite musician/songwriter of all-time.

The heyday of the Jam was just a tiny bit before my time, and the only song I ever heard on mainstream radio was "Town Called Malice", which I never cared for that much. As a result, I didn't get around to exploring their back catalog until the late 80s, and holy cow, was I impressed. One of my favorite songwriters as well. I liked the fact that he could write a song about anything: personal, political, romantic, social commentary, slice-of-life, etc. And, his lyrical observations were rarely trite or simplistic---and the songs totally rocked!!!
Style Council never grabbed me, and I'm not real familiar with his solo stuff other than a few singles---I should check out more.

He's considered a god among men in England and for selfish reasons I'm actually fine with him never "breaking big" in the US.
Don't know if I care for the "k" in "Sonik" but hopefully it's an indication of a heavy guitar album... I loved 'Wake Up The Nation.' Who am I kidding, I've loved everything Weller has put out including the Council years without which I don't think he'd be the solo artist that he is today.

Paul is one of my favorites, both for The Jam and his solo stuff. Saw him live either earlier this year or sometime last year and he was fantastic. Very much looking forward to this.
