In my defense I haven't listened to them in years (except in bars), and they did not make it into my itunes since I've re-ripped everything in hi-quality.

I guess I miss the memo when bands officially go on everyone's shitlist... not sure why that happens.

Can't speak for anyone else but every time I have the misfortune of hearing one of their songs I feel like the only way to stop the pain is to rip the ears off my head. That's why they're on my shitlist.

Well, it's either them, Kid "Rock", or Eminem. Who else is there?

He does.

Jack White's from here too, but he doesn't live here, so I don't know if he still likes us.

If Nickelback and Kings of Leon did a double-bill, the resulting gravitational sinkhole could open up a wormhole to new galaxies. Then we could shove them through said wormhole and seal it shut forever. Then maybe a nosh?

That guy exemplifies "major douche" (not that I condone the rock-throwing, mind).

WTF! Why were these people at their concert if that was their reaction and what prompted the rock-throwing?

I like a few of their songs but I wouldn't say I'm a fan. They have plenty of fans though as they are second only to the Beatles for a foreign band in terms of popularity.

To be fair, the memo was just a photocopy of the Creed memo.

So, why the hatred for Nickelback? I once watched a Nickelback DVD, and they seemed like a generic rock band. No better, no worse than a dozen others. Is Nickelback one of those bands that was cool before they were popular, but are now the uncoolest because they're on the radio?

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but Nickelback is from a small town only a couple hours from me. I liked one song the first time I heard it (Old Enough), but couldn't stand anything else I ever heard by them. They're Canada's answer to Creed.

We have one local "rock" radio station that plays Nickelback regularly, and has since the very beginning. The "alternative rock" station has a standing "No-Nickelback guarantee." They'll play other famous local crap like Tegan & Sara (sorry, fans. I just don't like them, but everyone else I know thinks they're God's gift to Canadian music), but not Nickelback. Ever.

I've honestly never sat down and listened to the band, but I've heard way too much of them on TV. It's the kind of music that no one really seems to ask for, but it gets shoveled down our throats.

I believe worldwide sales was the measure that was used. Second only to the Beatles for a non-US band.

It still doesn't make sense. The figures vary by source, but Wikipedia's chart has Led Zeppelin at either 300 or 200 million, Queen at 300 or 150 million, and ABBA at 300 or 260 million. Then you go further down and see Pink Floyd, AC/DC, and the Rolling Stones at 200 million each, the Bee Gees at 200 or 120 million, and U2 and Genesis at 150 million each.

I just can't believe Nickelback has outsold any of those groups. I'd be skeptical, even if they went by download sales as opposed to physical media.

Their songs are just painfully bad and crammed down the throats of everybody. It's bland, bad music that has always just rubbed me the wrong way. Mix that with constant radio play and it's easy to see the hatred.

Those guys and Creed are the two most cringe enducing bands I've had to endure. Creed songs always started off sounding like other, better songs -- then the vocals would kick in and the song would go to hell.

Sounds like they were at a metal festival.

51, 404 signatures now, hilarious.
