For those who didn't know, Within Temptation is making a quick stop in the US in support of their new album, The Unforgiving.

I'll be at the NYC show this Saturday! :D Love the new album and can't wait to hear some the new songs live!

Yes but they are spending all that money to cross the ocean, transport gear, bring crew, etc, for a half dozen shows??

True, but I'm grateful they're at leasting coming to the states. I've been wanting to see this band for a while and fucking love the new CD. I also plan to spend a shitload on shirts and other merchandise.

Would be pretty cool if I get to meet Sharon and the guys.

Please, convince them to stay there. They won't be missed by me in the Netherlands. They surprised me in 2001 when I stumbled upon their show at a festival, since then I have been forced to see them at least 10 more times.

A lot of Metal bands from Europe/UK + Surrounding Areas do that.

Look at how many bands fly out to Maryland Death Fest every year for just the festival and no tour around it.

My Dying Bride is playing the 70,000 Pounds Of Metal Cruise in Florida and nowhere else in the States this year (so far). It's pretty common to see Metal bands from Europe/UK do short stints on the East Coast.

Nightwish is doing the same thing with their show in Cali and then the cruise thing. No tour announced yet.

The Nightwish Cali show is a 6,000 seat amphitheater. THat will be a nice payday and no doubt a showcase for the band before the entertainment industry bigwigs. So I hope they do some warmup dates beforehand. They have been off the road 2.5 years.

Damn, I missed this. Robert Westerholt will no longer tour with the band. He's staying home with the kids. Well, makes sense. Sharon sure isn't expendable.

Band statement, issued 9/20/11

"As you know, in recent years we were blessed with the birth of three children. Since then not only our kids but also WITHIN TEMPTATION has been growing fast and we are touring in more countries than ever before.

"To be able to fulfill the needs of our children but just as much the needs of the band for now and also in the future, we decided Robert will step down from touring live, (except for the occasional show). With this change we can give stability to our children and from the home studio Robert will have more time writing new music and developing new creative ideas for the live show, the comic and future movies.

"What makes the decision easier is the fact that Stefan Helleblad is willing to take Robert's place in the band on stage. Stefan has been working with the band behind the scenes for some years. As a sound engineer he was involved in the production of our latest three records. Next to being a great sound engineer, mixing engineer and producer he is also a very gifted guitar player. On our latest album, 'The Unforgiving', you can already hear him play some special guitar parts. His first show will be on September 21st in Heerhugowaard.

"So this is not a goodbye but a new step, or actually two steps in a very exciting new and inspiring time for our band.

"We hope you keep joining and enjoying this adventure together with us and our paths will keep crossing each other."

Yeah... it's sucks, but were they on the road with three kids? Damn.

At least I got to see him perform on stage.
