New Bangles album - Sweetheart of the Sun (9/27)
Their last album, "Doll Revolution", was out in 2003. And the album before that, "Everything", was in 1998. So it's nice to see them still recording new material. And not just touring riding their "hits". They are really good live. Kind of anxious to hear the new material. "Doll Revolution" was much better than I expected. But nothing can ever compare to "All Over the Place".

Saw them a couple months ago singing backup for Elvis Costello. Someone must have put Susanna Hoffs and her bandmates in a time machine because they look and sound exactly like they did 20 years ago.

I maintain to my dying day, that Susanna Hoffs drinks the blood of unbaptized Christian babies to remain ageless. That or she has a painting hidden in an attic somewhere that is aging for her. It is preposterous that anyone should look that good at her age.

Saw them a couple years ago and was at the very front of the stage. It's a great spot to marvel at how great the whole band looks.
Got a signed (all 4 Bangles) CD of "Doll Revolution" and had always hoped Michael would return. But glad to hear a new album is coming out and I'm sure a tour is going to be forthcoming. Thanks for the info, Daytripper

If you are one of those that buy albums based on exclusive songs, Barnes and Noble has a preorder page for the album with two exclusive songs. They are basically acoustic songs.

I like the new single. The tune has a cool 1960s/early 70s vibe.

I must admit I never paid alot of attention to this band due to that single being WAY overplayed during my high school years in the 80's, but thanks to the OP, I picked up "Doll Revolution" this week and absolutely love it. Looks like they're doing a show in Los Angeles in October so I might check that out as well.

I actually don't hate it (not sure why!). That song came on XM last week in the car and I told my wife that there was a period of time when that album was out and you could actually enjoy the song before it was released as a single. "Manic Monday" had a few months on the air before "Egyptian". It sucks sometimes when a really good band is remembered for one of their goofiest songs.

Always regretted not seeing them in concert when they played at UC Davis back in 1985.
Susannah is one of the best looking women in rock (I'm sure there's a thread on this topic somewhere). I admit not being too fond of DOLL REVOLUTION, but ALL OVER THE PLACE and their original EP (the original mix of "Real World" as well as "Mary Street" and "Air Up There") were played constantly on my Walkman.
I always found the syrupy "Eternal Flame" to be their worst song, with "Walk Like An Egyptian" coming in a close second.

The first Bangles tune I heard was in 1981 or so and was a groovy surf intrumental called "Bitchin' Summer". The song was on a Rodney on the ROQ compilation. After that, I got the EP (as DieselsDen mentioned, the original mix of "Real World" as well as "Mary Street" and "Air Up There").

After wiping the drool off my keyboard, I just looked up Hoffs on Wiki to read about her background and discovered her mother is quite the creative person as well:

For those in the L.A. area who might be interested....
Bangles CD signing at Barnes & Noble
Meet The Bangles tonight when they perform and sign copies of their new CD, Sweetheart of the Sun. The album celebrates the band's love of rock's golden age that originally drew them together, balanced with their trademark vocal harmonies.

Thanks for posting the tunes, DT. Very happy the gals have gone back to their 1960s/1970s sound. Love those harmonies.
