Come on, it'll be like Lady and the Tramp! Not the Disney one, though.

Well, here's the first song: http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/0...g-god-is-dead/

Not terribly impressed.

To me it didn't sound like Sabbath until the pre-chorus. Maybe it's the way it's mixed, but it just sounds weird.

Re: Black sabbath: reunited original band line up for new album.

It's... it's OK. It didn't grab me immediately, but I wasn't displeased by it either. If nothing else, it's competent. I'll try to let it grow on me, but for a reunion of this magnitude, competent is pretty disappointing.

Conversely, Heaven & Hell's opening salvo "Bible Black" was fucking monumental:

New single reminds me of how KISS approached Sonic Boom - write like you're still in the past. Works on some levels, doesn't on others, but overall this is about in line with what I expected from them.

I turned it off halfway and put on Sabotage.

Sabotage is my favorite Sabbath album with Ozzy. The Mob Rules is my favorite Sabbath album, period.

My GOD we're gonna enjoy that sausage Sabotage is a perfect Sabbath album, in terms of quality of songs (all are epic save for Am I Going Insane, which admittedly sucks) and the fullness of the production. You can practically feel the whiskey and blow in every track, and it totally works to the album's advantage. Every time someone INSISTS "Paranoid" is Sabbath's crowning album achievement, I go all Pol Pot. Phenomenal album, but not their best. It has all "the hits", so it's the most "accessible".

Mob Rules is top tier Sabbath as well, but it's not my favorite. If I had to rank the first 6 Ozzy Sabs and first 2 Dio Sabs?
  1. SABOTAGE
  2. MASTER OF REALITY
  3. MOB RULES
  4. HEAVEN AND HELL
  5. BLACK SABBATH
  6. PARANOID
  7. SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH
  8. VOL. 4
All of them are stellar, bear in mind...

Had to double check to see if I had written this. 100% agreement.

Re: Black sabbath: reunited original band line up for new album.

I was a bit disappointed in the Heaven And Hell album. My expectations were very high as I thought that the 3 songs on The Dio Years were all motherfuckers, and all better than anything on The Devil You Know.

The new one isn't great, but it's pretty good.

Re: Black sabbath: reunited original band line up for new album.

Wow Vol.4 is easily my favorite one. Looking at this order you'd think I don't like Dio which is false. I just really like the Ozzy albums more.

1. Vol. 4
2. Master Of Reality
3. Sabotage
4. S/T
5. Paranoid
6. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
7. Mob Rules
8. Heaven and Hell
9. Never Say Die
10. Technical Ecstasy

Vol. 4 is a great album But it's my least favorite of the big 8. Which is like getting the worst lapdance from Shakira...

Re: Black sabbath: reunited original band line up for new album.

I'd say Vol. 4 is one of the bigger missteps of the Ozzy era.

I prefer Master of Reality to Sabotage, but you're spot on about Mob Rules. I could listen to "Sign of the Southern Cross" for days without getting bored. Heaven & Hell is just a smidge behind MR in my favorite Sabbath albums though.

Re: Black sabbath: reunited original band line up for new album.

Sabotage
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Master Of Reality
Paranoid
Vol 4
Black Sabbath

That is all the Sabbath I need. I really really disliked the new song and will have to hear more before plunking down some change to buy the album.

Poo! It might be the least of the classic albums, but any album with Wheels of Confusion, Supernaut, Snowblind (Iommi's awkward phrasing notwithstanding), Laguna Sunrise, and Under the Sun is definitely pulling its weight. Even lesser efforts like Cornucopia, St. Vitus Dance and Tomorrow's Dream are decent album tracks.

OK, Changes and FX can go pound sand. No argument there.

"Technical Ecstasy" and "Never Say Die" are best Ozzy-era Sabbath albums. End of story.

Haha! Good one

The 1st 6 Ozzy albums are great, the 1st two Dio albums are great, but Live at Hammersmith (Dio) is boss. My favorite Sabbath album.
