Happy sixteenth birthday, Macarena!

On August 15, 1995, "Macarena" was released on the world. A few bits of trivia:

CSI's Gloria Parkes (Tracee Ellis Ross) was in the music video
No less an authority than VH1 named it both the "Greatest" one-hit wonder as well as the most "Awesomely Bad"
It is Billboard's all-time #1 dance song
In 2003, eight years after the song was released, the songwriters still pulled in $250,000 in royalties
The Christmas version is one of 14 official versions
Each Macarena converts to 3.72 Rebecca Blacks and 0.13 Oprahs.
The only bigger single in the entire decade was Mariah Carey's "One Sweet Day" which is also a terrible song
I will not link the video. |

Re: Happy sixteenth birthday, Macarena!
Great. Now it will take another 16 years to get it back out of my mind.

Re: Happy sixteenth birthday, Macarena!
Additional trivia:
Los del Mar (Spanish for those from the ocean, referring to Marbella) was a short-lived Spanish music duo, best-known for their hit single, a 1995 cover version of the Los del Río song, "Macarena", which was included on the album, Macarena: The Hit Album. The main member, Pedro Castaño, is still touring with this song. STILL. TOURING. |
Re: Happy sixteenth birthday, Macarena!
So which is the popular version? Los del Mar or Los del Rio?
