Seriously, why all the nasty comments? He just died. My friend Christine actually went out with him for a period around a decade or so ago. She did say he was a self-destructive person but she did care for him and I know that she is upset about him right now.

Yes Warrant were one of the reasons why grunge had to happen, but why are we still bashing on them like its 1994? Hair metal bashing has had its day... and the man is dead. Like or hate his music, some people miss him.

He taped an episode of That Metal Show just last month. It'll be interesting to see how they handle that. Didn't care for his music, but sad news.

I don't know... when the first Miss Box-of-Junk died, they never mentioned anything, just ran a memorial title card at the end of the show.

But she was not a metal artist or somebody who had a huge impact on the music industry.

I bet they will mention him when the new season starts.

He got to nail the chick from the "Cherry Pie" video, and for that I salute him. RIP.

Re: Former WARRANT Singer JANI LANE Dead At 47

Saw him with Warrant in what would be his last ever appearance with them (Rock the Bayou in Houston, Tx). He was horrible. Completely out of it, it was sad. The band was on their game, Jani, not so much. After every song he would turn to Erik and ask "Cherry Pie?". He even wandered off stage mid-song for a few minutes.

Next day, he was booted out. Sad that his demons got the best of him.

You've been here since 2005 and haven't figured out at DVD Talk isn't the place to come for loving, heartfelt comments about the recently deceased?

How was Rock The Bayou? A buddy of mine went one of the days and says it was VERY lightly attended. I assume they lost a ton of money on that thing.

I see no cause of death but considering his lifestyle why bother....Just about 20yr old when they peaked and that's a long way down to crash. As the song says..."Life In The Fastlane"....die in it as well.

Aww, you beat me to it.

Hey, "Heaven" was a pretty good song, hair metal group or not. And I'm glad it got the kudos it received in 1989 when it climbed the Billboard Hot 100 all the way to the No.2 position.

Re: Former WARRANT Singer JANI LANE Dead At 47

I loved me some Warrant when I was a kid. Recently dl'd Cherry Pie just because it was a childhood staple of mine. Sucks his demons got the best of him. Dead at 47... I feel bad for his kids.

It was a lot of fun, we went 3 of the four days. Although supposedly a ton of tickets were sold I think a couple of things screwed up the actual attendance. One, the threat of a hurricane in the gulf (all the highway safety signs were flashing "Hurricane in the Gulf" and the ridiculous heat that weekend.

The crowds in the evening, once it cooled down, were pretty decent. During the day it was like a ghost town. It was too bad. The headliners we saw were all great, Sammy Hagar, Queensryche and Alice Cooper (who was the big surprise of the weekend for us, we enjoyed his set immensely).

Now you see him:

Now you don't, bass player went out of frame, looked as if he was trying to find out where he went:

Re: Former WARRANT Singer JANI LANE Dead At 47

I recently saw the Heaven Isn't Too Far Away video on VH1 classics. It's filled with clips of the crowd and fans at a concert. One fan had a tatoo that said "Down Boys" on his shoulder. I can't stop wondering what that guy thinks of that tatoo today. He's out there somewhere, in his mid-40s, probably has a couple of kids, and he's got this embarassing fucking tatoo on him and he can't deny it because it's imortalized in the music video.
