11-11-11: VH1-C National Metal Day

An 11 part series. Damn!

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/natio...ssic-11-11-11/

Get ready to turn it up to 11, metal-heads! VH1 Classic has declared Nov. 11, 2011 (11-11-11), as National Metal Day. The music channel will celebrate with 11 days of broadcasting devoted to the hard-rock genre.

The highlight of the programming will be an 11-part series from Banger Films titled ‘Metal Evolution,’ which documents the history of heavy metal. The premiere episode will center on ‘pre-metal’ acts like Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. Other editions will concentrate on such topics as British heavy metal, glam metal and thrash metal. The first episode of ‘Metal Evolution’ will air at 10PM ET on Nov. 11, with subsequent editions airing every Friday night after that.

“Nobody is more metal than VH1 Classic,” said VH1 Classic Ben Zurier, EVP Programming Strategy, VH1 & VH1 Classic, in a statement. “Celebrating National Metal Day on 11-11-11 gives us a platform to honor metal artists, and take metal music one step further than anybody has before.”

Other various programs during the 11-day period from Nov. 1 through Nov. 11 will focus on concerts and specials involving Black Sabbath, Metallica, Judas Priest and other bands. In addition, ‘Behind the Music Remastered: Megadeth’ will premiere at 9PM ET on Nov. 11.

It is sort of true. They have Metal Mania and That Metal Show.

They are the only "music" channel that still acknowledges that metal... hell, music... still exists.

Palladia is a great music channel. Mostly concert footage, though.

Why can't they have this on Vh1? I don't get classic.

And they couldn't find a new rock band to do a BTM? We get Megadeth again.

“Nobody is more metal than VH1 Classic,”
Ahem, could this imply the genre is "antiquated?"

A word to the wise here: benedict does not tolerate trolling in the music form, so you might want to turn it down if you don't want to be shown the door.

The movie is supposed to go on at 11:11pm. Whether or not the marquee will read PUPPET SHOW & SPINAL TAP remains to be seen.

Never heard of it, but it does look good.

VH1 Classic is starting to run movies, which is starting to worry me.

Notice how the That Metal Show with Axl has no studio audience and just has the three hosts... it seems that he can't lower himself to be around fans.... what an ass!

Re: 11-11-11: VH1-C National Metal Day

Isn't every day National Metal Day on VH1 Classic?

Still, better than the regular VH1 which thinks every day is National Hip Hop Day when they do care to play music oriented programming.

That it was a last-minute arrangement done backstage in Miami barely over a week ago, the only time it could have been done as the band is in the midst of a massive world tour, thus there couldn't be a LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE present?

If you're gonna damn Axl (and there's plenty of ammo for that), damn him for something he actually did, not for some manufactured sin of omission from your imagination.

Do yourself a favor and download Jim Florentine's latest podcast. He talks about the whole ordeal.
