Re: Metallica announces the finishing of new album...

I love Lou Reed's music. Solo and with the Velvet Underground. I hate Metallica as much as I love Reed. I am still looking forward to this I just wish Hetfield didn't sing on it. I can deal with Metallica being the back up band but after seeing Some Kind Of Monster every time he starts singing on The View I picture him being a whiny bitch.

This album's going to go down worse than a lead zeppelin.

This sounds good besides the table parts LOL. Listened to the 60 second clip of whatever the other guy's name is doing the lyrics and I was like WTF is that awful noise.

Sounds great to me! I hope I can get a whole version without Reed rambing and fake rapping on it.

For the perspective of a Metallica fan, I suppose. Lou doesn't need to sell records. He's Lou. He picks Metallica from his stool.

Re: Metallica announces the finishing of new album...

I don't think I even want to pirate this one. Such a shame because "Mistress Dread" sounds like an awesome thrasher until Lou comes in. I actually started laughing during "Pumping Blood." Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't understand Lou's appeal anymore.

Re: Metallica announces the finishing of new album...

Lou only puts out good albums ever 8-10 years. The Blue Mask (1982), New York (1989), Ecstasy (2000). I guess we're still waiting for the new jewel. Metallica blows any chance this time around.

I may have to revisit The Raven (2003) for Halloween. I remember the Willem Dafoe parts really used to freak out my wife.

I'm just going to pretend this release never existed and whatever Metallica releases next will be the proper follow-up to Death Magnetic.

Re: Metallica announces the finishing of new album...

Metallica fans suck. I hope that the follow up to Death Magnetic contains choruses screeched by Yoko Ono.

Yeah, that would be correct since this isn't a Metallica album. Metallica is the backup band.

They came pretty close with that Marianne Faithfull cameo on The Memory Remains.

That's a little disingenuous. If you've seen the promos they've done, Metallica isn't exactly taking a back seat to Lou. They're representing this as a co-project. I don't see why it's a such a big deal to either side's fans. They tried something, they probably failed. Big deal. It's not the first time either of them failed miserably (see St. Anger/Metal Machine Music). It's not like Metallica devoted 2 years to this project.
