I actually liked this one quite a bit as well. I was rather pleasantly surprised by it.

Re: Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra (Due June 28th)
I started the thread and haven't weighed in on this yet, but personally, I think this is their best album since Significant Other. It's a heavier blend than what was availalbe on Chocolate Starfish... they weren't afraid to give us a taste of their 3DBY roots at times, but it's still a mainstream kind of album.
I actually interviewed bassist Sam Rivers for a podcast the other year, and he pretty much asked: "Where's the next Beastie Boys? And furthermore, where's the 'heavy' in the mainstream nowadays? Take a look at what certain bands are out there doing - Mastodon, Meshuggah... but the mainstream doesn't have anything that's fun or experimental."
When the band got back together the official statement from both Fred and Wes said they were sicker of the mainstream heavy scene than they were of each other, and that's kinda what brought them back. And I really have to agree. Unless you're Godsmack, Disturbed, or Korn nowadays... all simply terrible in the direction they've all gone now, if you ask me, you don't get airplay unless you're a generic crappy alt-rock band.
This is Limp Bizkit doing music for THEM, and I think it shows. Chocolate Starfish was a bi-product of Fred's ego getting a little too big for him to handle... Gold Cobra is the album we SHOULD have got after Significant Other.
EDIT: Oh, and as far as the 'fun' thing... that's what most people who despise Limp Bizkit don't really grasp. They're grading their music, generally, on the quality of the lyrics and Fred's vocals and they say, "What? Really? How is ANYONE supposed to take this band seriously?" You're not. Bizkit has NEVER been a band to take seriously, and that's all be design. If you're not someone who can just let yourself go and have fun with music that's meant to BE fun... it won't be for you.
In short though, if you liked Limp Bizkit before... you'll probably LOVE the new album.
