Re: Lady Gaga- Born This Way FULL ALBUM- 99 cents again!

I resisted giving Amazon my 99 cents on Monday. Will I be able to resist again?

I've got no interest in this artist, but some voice in the back of my head keeps saying "It's only 99 cents for a whole album, why aren't you getting it?!"

Same here. I'm not much of a pop fan, but do like it occasionally. The combination of that, wanting to know what you kids are listening to, the price, the fact that it will forever be free in my "cloud" made me just click the purchase button.

Listening to it now and enjoying it quite a bit.

Just don't listen to it and get it for Amazon's Cloud service with free 20GB of storage for a year.

Thanks for the heads up. I bought it out of curiosity.

I listened to it. All the songs sound the same to me. Woomp woomp woomp woomp. A little sacrilege, a little sex, and a song with a title you can't say on German television. I hope that once she can do what she wants, that she'll turn her talents towards something more interesting.

You mean once she's done stealing Madonna's act?

Stealing? I think Madonna passed the torch to her.

Yes, but Madonna didn't invent it out of whole cloth. And she moved on.

Elton John put on wire rimmed glasses and kept writing music. I respect that. Alice Cooper was still trying to do his grand guignol act well into the hair metal era. I mean, grow up.

Yeah wearing wire rimmed glasses should have ended his music writing career. I respect him for going on after that controversial move.

Missing Persons had an album out before Madonna. They were a band before anyone knew who Madonna was. Plus, all of their members played in Frank Zappa's band.

As for Madonna, as a casual observer, Lady Gaga is way more talented than Madonna could ever hope to be. That may not translate into the same level of success but her voice is better, her dancing is better, and she can actually play a musical instrument.

I don't want to turn this into a M v. Gaga thread but Madge can dance very well and play the guitar. Yeah, her vocals were never great though.

Yeah, Madonna can play the guitar on a few songs that she spent years learning.

I think his point is that everyone knows (even Gaga) that what she's doing isn't new. Her career path may end up looking a lot like Elton John's in the future considering how similar they both are.

She has the talent for longevity in the business even without the goofy costumes. Not unlike Sir Elton John. Time, of course, will tell.

When she produces anything 1/10th as good as Tumbleweed Connection, Honky Chateau or Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, let us know.

...and she's borrowed a lot from Peaches as well. She was sporting Terri Nun's (Berlin) haircut on a recent SNL appearance.

Elton John wrote some nearly perfect songs that will last for decades. Lady Gaga is still just a dance-pop star. There is absolutely no analogy here.

So Amazon sent me a $5 credit for any item to apologize for the Lady Gaga download disaster.

Another reason to use their MP3 service over apple. Their customer service is absolutly top shelf.
