Red Hot Chili Peppers 10th Studio Album ("I'm With You", August 30th)
More good news, first Incubus now RHCP are set to release a new album this year too after a 5 year break. Recording has been completed and album is in the mixing stage.
I think Stadium Arcadium was unquestionably their best album (and one of the best of the decade), so I'm excited to hear what they've got coming, especially after John Frusciante left.

Really....their best album? That's a surprising choice.
(my mind can't even compute that best of the decade comment)

Never been less excited about a new RHCP album in my life. Hoping it's good, but my expectations are minimal.

Stadium Arcadium their best album?? Wow I really would have to disagree with that a ton. It had some okay material but it's definitely one that I don't go back to often. Had way too much filler on it if you ask me. Best to me is still Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik or Californication.
Anyways, I'm sure I'll check this album out but not very excited for it at all.

Great news. I've been waiting for something new from them. I also didn't care for Stadium Arcadium all that much. I should give it a listen again.

Screw you guys, at least the people who matter (critics) agreed with me about Stadium Arcadium being a great album

I think "Stadium Arcadium" is their best album too but that's because I'm a bigger Frusciante fan (his post-sobriety solo albums and side projects are amazing, though the druggy stuff is disturbing) and I think his contributions to that album were the most prominent. I prefer the 2nd Frusciante era in general as a result of that as well.
Having said that, I'm not really anticipating the new album since Frusciante is gone but I do think Josh Klinghoffer is a solid (if uninteresting) choice. He's played with the band for years as Frusciante's touring support so I don't think it will be another Navarro situation where they have incompatibility issues when they actually have to work together for extended periods of time, not to mention the fact that Klinghoffer is essentially Fruscuiante's protegee which should mean he'll slip into Frusciante's stylistic role pretty easily even if he isn't the creative driving force behind the band that Frusciante was during his second stint.
Even though I'm a Frusciante fan I have all the RHCP albums with other guitarists so this is a day-1 purchase regardless but its going to have to win me over on its own if it doesn't want to wind up in the "once every 5 years" listening pile with "One Hot Minute".

I thought Stadium Arcadium was good but there is really only like 3 songs that I still listen to or load up on playlists where as Californication I can play that from start to end no problem. I'll check the new album out when it comes out but I'm in agreement about the lack of excitement.

Mother's Milk remains their best. Without Frusciante I'm not looking forward to this one.

I hope they stay far away from everything that SA was!
I love BSSM, MM, Californication and even OHM, but SA was pretty mediocre to me.
Still can't wait.
Anyone notice how this year is PACKED with albums by good and great bands? 2011 will be an amazing year when it's all over.

Cool! I look forward to it.
Call me crazy one of my favorite RHCPs CDs is "By The Way". Every track is gold, and its just mellow, maybe that's why I like it so much.

Why does everyone dislike One Hot Minute so much? Warped is a great song and so is Aeroplane. My Friends and Tearjerker are descent also.

OHM is one my favorites as well. There's some great guitar work on there from Navarro and it's one of the CD's I find myself listening to alot whenever I want to hear RHCP.

If anyone wants an idea of what Josh Klinghoffer is like musically he's all over most of Frusciante's solo albums, plus he got equal billing with Frusciante on "A Sphere in the Heart of Silence". They also put out a two-part album under the band name Ataxia.
Regardless of what you think of Navarro he certainly didn't fit with the rest of the band on a personal level (he's the "sarcastic Mr. Know-it-all" per Kiedis) and most people would agree that he didn't fit musically (100% opinion) but Klinghoffer shouldn't have problems with either of those given his associations and history with the band.

Really looking forward to this. Hopefully it turns out better than One Hot Minute did. FYI, I liked SA, but Californication is still my favorite RHCP album.

Klinghoffer also toured with the RHCP on their last leg (and the only way they could perform This Velvet Glove live). He was the fifth Pepper. He isn't that different than Frusciante (who in turn is that different than Hillel).
I think BSSM is always going to be their best album. Frusciante was playing in a way he was never able to before or after and they were still young and willing to push themselves harder than ever. Even Frusciante acknowledges that whole era as a unique time that he won't even try to replicate. But I love all the albums he's done with them. SA was an incredible achievement and with some new blood in the band I'm sure they are going to have some new tricks.
I really like OHM, too. Something very interesting about them being out of sync.

I think I am in the minority, but I think Californication is their worst album post-BSSM. I like the 4 or 5 fast songs, but the slower ones aren't so good.

Chad Smith says the album will be released in August. They have not decided on the album name and are still picking out songs to include on it.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have a title and release date for their new album.
According to bassist Flea, it’s be called I’m With You and released at the end of August. This is what Flea has tweeted about the band’s first new studio record in five years:
“I’m With You August 30th!!! whahoooooo!!! yip! yippeeee!!!! whaaaaaaa!!!!!!! yes y3es ys ye s yes yes yeyeyeye yes yes yeslovelovelove” http://www.redhotchilipeppers.com/news/

Will be a good way to close out the summer (although not as good as if it were to kick-off the summer).
Hopefully we'll see a track or two released by July sometime.
