True statement. As stupid as the lyrics to "Friday" are, at least there is some semblance of a concept behind the song. Most BEP lyrics at this point are just vague generic references to having a good time mixed with nonsense.

That doesn't make any sense. Do you dismiss all of the words that she's learned to use?

I love that video. Cracked is the first website I visit after CNN in the morning. And I agree, "I Gotta Feeling" is definitely worse than "Friday."

Agreed on the BEP reference, it's one of the first groups I thought of when Rolling Stone called Friday and unintentional parody of modern pop.

Most Christians I know agree that the majority of "modern" christian music sucks...but after decades of poorly ripping off every music genre available, they now have their own rip-off anthem to call their own.

Does that church not see the irony of dressing up like Ali G?

They should be smote and smote fast.

I don't know how they did it but they managed to make members of both LaVey's Church and the most devoted Christian ready to start a new inquisition together to bring down this evil presence.

LOL at the rage. Good for her, can't believe they wrote a song, recorded it, and shot a video for $4,000. And she has amazing stage presence for a 13 year old.

And for those who think pop music was better in their day...may I remind you of the #1 song of 1969 and one of the biggest chart toppers of all time.

"I just can't believe the loveliness of loving you.."

I find the whole thing rather funny. The song is SO bad that it's become something I rather enjoy (in a twisted sense). But, you're out of your mind if you think "Sugar, Sugar" is as bad as "Friday".

I don't have a single problem with Miss Black, nor her friends. That's an awkward time of life for everyone, anyway. It's the songwriters that blow. I mean, I realize they're writing for kids, and want to keep it simple, but come on. Also, as others have stated, it's rage against the destruction of the culture that successful bands like Black Eyed Peas have wrought, and we're taking it out on poor Rebecca. You know how they say an addict never gets better until they hit rock bottom? Well, maybe this insipid tune is enough to make the current generation wake up and realize that their "real music" heroes actually suck just as much. Maybe, but probably not.

That's a terrible example. It's just not the same type of thing, at all.

I agree and I seriously think that Ark got nailed being lazy here. If you listen to their other songs they are all pretty generic pop tunes but none have lyrics as ridiculous as 'Friday'. It's like they just threw that one together at the last minute because they advertised you could pick between two songs and figured she would just pick the other song.

The problem is, what is the 'alternative' music scene for teens right now? Emo? Or worse, screamo or crunkcore? Hell, some of those groups are worse than Black Eyed Peas.

I'm starting to think this might be the best song of all time, simply because of all these great parodies
