When Did You Lose Respect for Steven Tyler?
I normally try to avoid all things American Idol, but sometimes the commercials slip through, and I just noticed that Steven Tyler is now a host, and apparently doing a really bad immitation of Johnny Depp doing a Keith Richards immitation. I know Aerosmith has been downhill for a while, but I've held out hope that they might redeem themselves at some point. This pretty much kills it for me.

I enjoyed them up until Get a Grip which is when he started pimping Liv in her undies, so that is my choice.

I always thought they were a poor man's Rolling Stones, but I did enjoy their output in the 70's and select songs off Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get A Grip.

They have some incredible 70's work. I hear it today and I can't help but crank up the stereo. Sort of liked "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)", but pretty much everything I've heard since then really bites. I can't imagine seeing them in concert. I'd be into one song and wanting to leave the next.

"Respect"?
I liked him as a singer and a frontman, and I really love 70s Aerosmith (their first five albums are pretty much impeccable American blues/hard rock). Their brand of music died out, they were rescued by Run DMC and reinvented by Desmond Child and managed to thrive. Not my kinda music but whatever.
I loathe all things "American Idol", and think it's a pretty lame move for anyone, but can you blame the guy? He's 60-something years old, had his hips replaced, and probably has ZERO interest in doing yet another tour and singing "Walk This Way" or "Cryin'" for the 8 billionth time. He can probably make just as much money (if not more) judging some stupid televised karaoke contest.

Aerosmith used to be great. Then they fell into the trap of doing too many ballads. Ballads should be the exception, not the rule.

I've never cared for aerosmith or steven tyler. the only thing I like came from him in the form of Liv.. however I can't stand american idol and will despise the music industry for continuing to pump out crap over and over.

Altho the rest of the band want to keep playing those songs. I'm pretty sure Tyler is no longer a part of the band, and they'll find their lead singer replacement on Youtube - just like Journey, Boston, and Judas Priest did.

I predict that with his exposure of being to American Idol that Aerosmith will put out a new album this year and it will be there biggest selling one in a long time. If not then they will at least follow it up with there 15th greatest hit's package of there career!
