Re: When Did You Lose Respect for Steven Tyler?
It's strange to me but despite doing 101 things to sell out I HAVEN'T lost respect for Steven Tyler. He's never stood at the top of the heap, but he's never disapeared completely from the music scene either. Even when grunge killed glam or when American Idol pop took over the scene he's always found a place and remained visible.
Joe Perry Bar-B-Q sauce? That's another story. :) |
Re: When Did You Lose Respect for Steven Tyler?
I saw Aerosmith in the early 80s and they were horrendous and pretty much at rock bottom. They didn't even sell out an arena of 5000 people. So to say they are in decline, they already declined and came back. Now they are just old and irrelevant.

I don't understand why so many people are saying they've been putting out crap for so long. Get a Grip was an excellent album. Livin on the Edge and Eat the Rich are great rock songs. The rest of the hits from that album are good also. They have only released 3 albums since Get a Grip which came out almost 20 years ago. Bobo was ok, but not my type of music, so that leaves Just Push Play and Nine Lives which really, are not crap, but not as good as everything before Get a Grip. Aerosmith got a bad rep for Armageddon crap and now AI.

I've come close in recent years but he'll always have my respect for having a hand in one of the best rock albums of the 70's, Rocks. He was the only performer to visibly move McCartney at his kennedy centre tribute last year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-0IW57a2gs
