Did anybody do Records Store Day 2010 part 2 today?

Just curious.

I just bought the George Harrison All Things Must Pass 3 LP edition, but nothing else.

I haven't listened to it yet, but the packaging is awesome. I have heard very good things about it though.

Anybody else get anything? If so, what did you get and what do you think of it?

I'm supporting "Buy Nothing Day" today, so no. But the exclusives list I saw didn't excite me, anyway.

I almost bought the Metallica exclusive, and held it for a while, but decided not to.

I actually picked up quite a few things:

Black Keys "Brothers" on two 10 inch records, plus the cd plus a bonus 45 with 6 songs
U2's - Wide Awake in Europe
Black Crowes
Jimi Hendrix
Tom Petty
Bob Dylan
Bruce Springsteen
Frank Sinatra Christmas Album

I bought the tri-color Wanda Jackson 45 on Third Man Records and the Grinderman "Heathen Child" 12" single on red wax with the Robert Fripp version on the b-side.

Did your store have very many of the U2's? Apparently, that is the hard item to get this year.

I only went for the George Harrison reissue, but I don't even recall seeing any of the U2. I was about the 10th person in line too.

Are you in the OKC area? Supposedly Guestroom Records here got 100 of the 150 total made of the Wanda Jackson record

I went to Zia Records and they had TONS at 9am. I then went to another record store Revolver and they were all gone over there.

Yeah, Guestroom is my local record store.

Third Man Records does a limited tri-colored vinyl pressing of a 150 for the 45s they put out. 50 go out mail-order to Third Man Records subscribers and 100 go to a record store in the hometown of the artist. Wanda is from here so Third Man contacted Guestroom and asked if they wanted to be the store to get these. Justin (co-owner of Guestroom) told me that he replied with a “fuck yes!” when asked.

Awesome. I live in Moore, so Guestroom is the store I most often go to (the Norman location).

Guestroom is an awesome record store IMO. I always hear people bitch on music forums about how they have no decent local record store and no selection. Fortunately, with Guestroom, and Hastings nearby, I think our record store situation is pretty solid.

Re: Did anybody do Records Store Day 2010 part 2 today?

Didn't know it was called "Record Store Day Part 2" but oh well. My Record Store Day in April this year was a terrible one, in that I went to four stores and spent over $400. Did a much better job of keeping it tight with this purchase. From The End:

+

=

all these items:

Antimatter - Lights Out
Antimatter - Saviour
Envy - Compiled Fragments (1997-2003) 2LP
Nachtmystium - Demise
Nadja - Skin Turns to Glass
Nadja - When I See the Sun Always Shines on TV
Nights Like These - Sunlight at Secondhand
Palace of Worms - The Forgotten
Process of Guilt/Caïna - Split 10"
Re123+ - Magi
Rotting Christ - Non Serviam
Sculptured - Embodiment
Sonic Youth - Goo
thisquietarmy - Blackhaunter
thisquietarmy - Unconquered
J. Tillman - Wild Honey Never Stolen 7"
Xiu Xiu - Women as Lovers

for $49.60 shipped.

Well, it's a little known fact, but if vinyl is left unattended, it gets terribly lonely and longs for the days when it was in the spotlight. So the records have staged a comeback. There's no one even manning these record stores anymore. You just walk in, and the vinyl hops right into your hand! They say, "Take me, listen to me, love me!" They huddle around the people with the highest end audiophile systems. It's really cute.

I wish the RSDs had more special stuff on cd. I understand it's main purpose is to promote vinyl, but some of us just aren't into vinyl. It would be better if they offered cool stuff for fans of all mediums. Cover all bases.

I'm very happy that I have such an awesome record store so close to where I live. Justin and Travis are both really cool guys who have some great people working with them. I'm not sure what I would do if Guestroom weren't around.

I agree. I love vinyl (especially 45s) but I would also love for some more CD exclusives. I mainly listen to music through my computer that I rip from CDs but I love having vinyl as well.

There's a station in LA that plays vinyl album sides once a week. It's pretty shocking to hear albums full of crackles and pops playing on the radio. The other day they played Stairway to Heaven and it was just rife with crackles. Makes me NOT miss my vinyl.
